Chapter 11:
Calypso
My head felt like it was stabbed through. My vision was still slightly blurry, but when I woke up, my clothes, weapons and armor were hanging up, I was in a small hut. A peaceful place, tranquil. I liked it.
A Girl entered, she had blonde hair and wore a pure, radiant white dress, she looked at me and inspected my injuries,
"You heal quickly," she said, "I did give you some Nectar and Ambrosia, but you seem to be healed, physically at least."
"Wh-what happened?" I asked, "Better question, where am I?"
She unwrapped the bandages around my head, "It's okay," she said softly, "What happened to you, I cannot say, where you are though is simple." She helped me to my feet, "You are at the Island of Ogygia. My name is Calypso, and yours?"
"Lux Redgrave." I said, walking up to my stuff and putting on my clothes at least.
"I must admit," Calypso said, "Your eyes, like fire." She inspected them closely, "Such beauty," There was sadness in her voice, "They do this every year, they place a man here more beautiful than the last. Just your eyes alone are the most beautiful I have seen."
"Every year?" I asked,
"Yes," she said, "Every year, the Gods send over a man to reject and leave me, feeling hollow and saddened." She looked out to sea, "I cannot even leave this island. I cannot age, leave or love. For supporting my family." she looked at me, "would you say that's cruel?"
"Honestly yeah," I said, "I know there are punishments like Atlas holding up the sky, Prometheus getting his liver eaten every day by a vulture, Ixion on a burning wheel bound by snakes. But this is truly the worst."
"What makes you say that?" she asked,
"Because your emotions are being toyed with." I said,
She looked at the floor, tears began to swell up, I gave her a shoulder to cry on. Poor Calypso, she doesn't look that much older than me, actually looks the same age as Zoë. So why? Why did the Gods do this? This isn't right.
"I cannot force you to stay." Calypso said, "But I beg you, please let your stamina grow. You are not invincible"
"I know," I said, "And I will stay until my stamina is back." I didn't want to look directly at Calypso, a lump developed in my throat,
"I expect you not to stay," Calypso said, "You're on a quest, aren't you?"
"I need to save someone using the Golden Fleece." I explained,
"I see," Calypso said, "I cannot help you in locating it, I am sorry."
I placed my hand on her shoulder, "Don't be," I said, "I will find it." I looked out at the garden, "And besides, I need to protect my family too."
Calypso smiled at me and took my hand to the garden, she sat down among the flowers and as did I. It felt nice to relax for once. Calypso checked my forehead again, "Good," she said, "Your injuries have healed," she then looked at me and beamed a smile, "Lux." she said, "I remember you, your mother is kind, she allowed me to hold you when you were small." She hugged me, "you have grown so much."
"My mom," I said, "You know who she is?"
She nodded, "However, as of right now," she explained, "Your Mother wants to keep her identity a secret. Not because she distrusts you, but because you're linked to the prophecy."
"Prophecy?" I said, "You mean the Prophecy of a Child of the Big three?"
"Yes," Calypso said, "The Prophecy does mention the Dark Knight Sparda."
