Chapter 14:
I Gave into My Demons
"I caught Nobody!" Polyphemus gloated, Annabeth looked in bad shape, her head had a nasty cut on it, she was basically dangling by one leg too, he even roared a near maniacal laugh, "Nasty invisible girl! Already got a feisty wife, you get cooked with mango chutney."
Seeing my friend like that pissed me off. I was holding every single urge to let loose.
"Our ship is just over the hill." Percy whispered, "I'll rush him so you two can get to it."
"No," Clarisse yelled, "We take him together."
Hold up. Clarisse is needing our help, honestly, never thought the day would come. "Plan Macedonia?" I asked,
"Just the one." Percy said, before sneaking behind Polyphemus, his sword in hand, "Hey Ugly!"
The brute hurled himself towards Percy, "Another one, who are you?"
"I'm the one who insulted you." he said, "Put my friend down, now."
"You are Nobody?" he brute asked,
"That's right you smelly bucket of nose drool!" Percy yelled, "I'm nobody and I'm proud of it! So shut up, put my friend down, and let me stab you in the eye again!"
Polyphemus roared. He dropped Annabeth, she landed head first (damn it), and rushed Percy with all his might (damn it!).
"For Pan!" Grover yelled, rushing Polyphemus's right,
"Time for you to fight me punk!" Clarisse yelled, rushing Polythemus's behind,
"Sword master!" I Yelled, throwing Moonshadow, letting it spin and slice along Polyphemus's chest, leading him to roar in pain. On the return trip back to me, it sliced Polyphemus's nose, the bridge of it, gods performing a roundtrip was satisfying. I used the opportunity to survey the room, seeing the golden fleece on the branch of a tree which was planted in the cave over an opening, "Quicksilver!" I yelled, time slowed and I dashed to the fleece, grabbing it.
Seeing that Clarisse was still fighting and Percy and Grover were carrying Annabeth, since we got what we came here for, we needed to go. "Fall back!" I exclaimed, "We've got a camp to save, let's go!"
Clarisse lumped Annabeth over her shoulder like a potato sack and we began running. Polyphemus chased us vigorously, although injured, he was fast.
"Grind you into sheep chow!" he threatened, "A thousand curses on Nobody!"
"Faster!" Percy yelled as we began to traverse the rope bridge.
However, while we traversed it, I tripped on the board due to it swaying so much, Polyphemus seized the fleece for himself and laughed, this time maniacally, "Failed!" He yelled with glee, "Nobody failed!" he kept on laughing, and something within me, something felt it ignited, Goliath enveloped my arms as my vision turned a shade of crimson.
"Failed?" I asked him, my voice growling, "We haven't almost died multiple times for us to fail." I began to slowly approach Polyphemus, "We didn't risk our lives for that fleece just to fail!" Whatever ignited, was swelling up, it was about to explode and for once it felt right to, "My father didn't entrust me with protecting the human world just to fail! And if you claim we have," The board I was standing on began to break, "THEN I'LL BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOUR FAT CYCLOPS BODY!" I roared and broke the board that I used to jump up at Polyphemus, punching him in the face. He was sent back to the cave side of the ravine. I followed him as he fumbled back up, as he tried to grab for me, I used dark slayer style and stomped onto Polyphemus's arm, breaking it. Polyphemus roared in pain. I didn't care for the fleece, I didn't care for the others, at this moment, I only cared about not failing the mission. As I slammed my fists into Polyphemus's face, over and over. However, a voice in my head and something in my vision shined.
