Bakugou had absolutely no idea how he was supposed to respond to Kaida having so quickly and easily said she would take away her affection almost as fast as she'd given it.
It felt like someone had vacuumed all of the air out of his lungs and ripped his mangled heart from his chest. He couldn't believe that she'd meant it. Anger tinted his vision red but the ache in his soul doused it in blue; deep, blurry blue. Tears stung the corners of his carmine eyes while he gripped the steering wheel harder against his calloused palms and everything was becoming dark around the edges, as if he were suddenly passing through a dimly lit tunnel. Thankfully, Yui was just up ahead, waving tiredly from the side of the road, which gave Bakugou the perfectly timed reason to stop and avoid losing control of the vehicle like he was losing control of himself.
He heard Kaida sigh from beside him as he began pulling over but chose not to look her way in fear of absolutely losing it right now, though, her aura seemed to ease down from such a high-strung place of anxiety-fueled stress. As soon as the car halted, her door was open and the freezing-cold, night air filtered into the vehicle, shocking Bakugou's system enough that he was able to pull in a shaky breath, lightening the edges of his vision. He blinked back the tears that attempted to coat his eyes to avoid them spilling over, staring blankly at the road ahead of him as the petite goth girl hopped out to give their companion a hug. The last thing she needed was for him to add to her stress by being a fucking wimp about feelings right now.
"Oh gods, Yui, I am so happy you're okay. Are you hurt??" He heard her say as he finally flicked his tired eyes in their direction, loosening his grip on the steering wheel.
"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine," Yui assured her. "Now, let's go before some other creep shows up."
The drive back to the agency was fairly silent. Yui attempted to lighten the mood by messing with Bakugou but seemed to catch on quickly that he wasn't interested in giving or receiving any shit right now. As they'd arrived back to where the remaining heroes awaited, luckily not having needed to summon a healer due to Yui's injuries being superficial, they sluggishly made their way to the break room to find the others. Upon entering, Yui ran straight for her brother, pulling him into such a tight hug that everyone would have guessed Reiji was the one still hurt, not Yui, though she brushed it off as minor cuts and bruises. Yaoyurozu still suggested that she be taken in for a check-up within the next day or so, if she insisted they not call anyone.

Kaida trudged her way passed the coffee table and the couch that Reiji had been lying on to the far corner of the room where a lounge chair sat next to a bookcase that lined the back wall beside the sliding glass doors that led to a deck; her intention, to wallow in her own sorrow for a moment before anything else. She knew she needed to take things seriously, to further protect the new friends she had made, even though the only logical way she could think to do that was with distance. She watched the group from her secluded corner with her feet pulled up, tucked up beside her, noticing that Mina was already chatting the siblings up, heightening their moods easily with her cheery personality.
