A gentle sigh escaped Scorpius as he sat on the couch, slouched slightly, eyes trained on the ceiling. He could hear Rose in the kitchen, making dinner. The noises from the kitchen were the only things he could really hear in the quiet Manor. He pulled himself up from the couch, slipping from the living room and into one of the dark hallways.
It wasn't as dark as it had been before. After his parents moved out, the place lightened up a bit. It wasn't as empty either, as both Rose and Scorpius had moved thigs out into the open that Scorp knew neither his mother or father would have sitting out for people to see. Scorpius never though much about why his parents wanted to move out, but he assumed that it being the Malfoy Manor, his father had too many bad memories in this place. Draco and Astoria had decided to move out, giving Scorpius the responsibility to take care of the home.
Out of the many rooms in the house, there was one that Rose kept a bunch of old muggle things hat her grandfather had given her over the years. There wasn't too much in there to say, just the things that she wasn't sure where to put around the manor, so they stayed in the room with a bunch of old furniture covered with white sheets. He climbed over one of the pieces of furniture to reach a dusty record player. It was blue, and when closed, it looked like a little suitase, which, to be honest, Scorpius thought was pretty cute. It hadn't been used in a while, as both he and Rose had forgotten about being in here. He shut the top of it, grabbing the cord and wrapping it around the record player. He stood for a moment, glancing around before he noticed the few records Rose had collected underneath the table the record player had sat on, reaching down to get one of them, one he knew Rose liked.
He made his way back to the living room, pushing one of the lamps over a little to fit the record player on the sidetable, plugging it in. He pulled the record out of the faded and scratched cardboard sleeve, rubbing his sleeve over the shiny black surface to get the small pieces of fuzz off. He pulled the top of the record player open, placing the record on to spinning part. He fumbled with it a moment, trying to find the one song he had heard Rose listen to over and over again before. He winced as the record made a scratching noise, a rather loud one, too. He didn't realize how loud the volume was up.
"Scorpius, what are you doing?" He heard Rose's voice drift in from the kitchen, but ignored it for the most part, finally putting the needle on the right groove.
"Scorp," he stood up straight and turned the volume knob a little to turn the sound down just slightly, turning to look at Rose.
Scorpius offered a small smile as the serene voice of Elvis Presley came from the speakers. An exasperated look crossed Rose's face and she looked away from Scorpius, turning to head back to the kitchen. Scorpius sighed and moved toward her, reaching out to grab her hand.
"Rosie," He murmured, pulling her back toward him, "Look, I'm sorry...I shouldn't have said some things, but...." He trailed off, shrugging one shoulder a little.
Rose stared up at him before her head came to rest on his chest. Scorpius smiled slightly and wrapped his arms around her waist, nose pressed into her hair as he swayed them slowly to the music.
"I didn't wait five years to put that ring on your finger for it to be ruined by a fight." He murmured as the song came to an end, the record emitting a fuzzy noise.
Rose slipped from the man, going to turn the record player off and looked back at Scorpius. She took a breath before nodding. "I know. Come on, dinner's nearly ready."
