JAY

"Why do you always need to be picked up? What happened to your car?" Jay asked the moment Jake finally got in his car.

It was a good Monday morning for Jay, not until he received a text from someone asking him to pick him up in front of his house. Jake was now laughing at his friend who had the biggest frown in his face as he watched Jake settle in the car.

"My car is currently not in a very good condition so I'll be riding with you for now. Come on, it's not like we're going to two separate destinations." Jake shrugged. "So what did you do during this weekend? Sulking in your room? Binge watching sad movies?"

Jay rolled his eyes. "I am not that sad. Seriously, do I look so miserable to you?" He says, his eyes still fixated on the road. "I went out with a friend. I bought some school supplies."

"Really? Who? Sunghoon?" He asks but Jay replied with a no. "Heeseung? Jungwon? Sunoo? Ni-ki?" Jake listed out all of the names in their friend group and it surprised him that Jay said no to all of them. "I give up. I don't have a list of all your friends, just say who it is."

Jay laughed. "No one told you to list everyone I knew. I was with Yuri." Jake's eyes widened as if he was not anticipating that reply from him. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

"You went out with her?!" He covers his mouth and gasps. "I never would've thought your friendship would reach this level. I thought after the wallet incident, the two of you would remain acquaintances."

"Believe me, even I'm shocked." Jay said as he parks the car. He grabs his bag from behind and leaves the car.

The two of them now began to walk towards the law department's building. He was scrolling in his Instagram out of boredom, he then stops at Yuri's post. He snickers when he realized it was the Dora the Explorer notebook that he bought for her. She matched the picture well with her feed which was impressive, but what cracked him up the most was the caption:

freak.

Single freak. He could even hear her voice saying that to him in his head.

"What are you laughing at?" Jake glanced at his phone but Jay was quick to exit the app before his friend could see it. He looked at Jay, suspiciously. "Were you looking at a girl-"

"It's nothing Jake." Jay shook his head.

"I'm kidding. I saw you looking at Yuri's post." Jake laughs. Jay glared at his friend. "But all jokes aside, if you're using Yuri to get over Jia I think it's best you just don't talk to Yuri. It would be unfair to her. Well I have to get going, see you later!" He turns his back on his friend and walked towards the building. 

Jay never really thought of Yuri like that. Sure with her he thinks of Jia less but he genuinely likes her company. He would never use her like that just so he could forget about his first love. He turned his back on the building so he could make his way towards his department's building but he saw Yuri walking with the biggest frown on her face.

Her eyes met Jay. She raised an eyebrow and approached him. "What are you doing here?"

"I just dropped off my friend." He says, pointing at the building.

She snorts. "What are you? His escort?"

He sighed. "I'm starting to think I am. What's with the frown? Did you wake up in the wrong side of the bed?"

"Today was supposed to be..." She paused for a while. "Our 2nd anniversary. Now I'm in a bad mood, but then again I'm always in a bad mood so this day isn't much of a difference to any ordinary day."
