JAY

"You just realized now?! It was so obvious! Even the receptionist from the farm could tell how smitten you looked at her!" Sunghoon exaggerates after Jay told him about his crush for Yuri.

He groaned. "Well things happen, feelings can be confused with friendship sometimes. Now I don't know what to do about it. I don't want to ruin what we both have."

He doesn't want to confess after what happened with Jia. He could handle being rejected by Jia but when it comes to Yuri, just the mere mention of it and the possibility of losing her scared him.

"You don't have to confess now, you can give it some time. But I hope you know not taking any risk is a big risk as well." Sunghoon tells him and crosses his arms. "You're risking the possibility of losing her to another guy."

"You're not helping." Jay facepalms himself as he slowly found himself imagining her with another guy because he didn't admit his feelings as soon as possible.

For the past year, this was the least of his concern. He didn't have to worry about anything related to relationships because he was so caught up with his first love, but now there he was, head over heels with a friend of his. Maybe Sunghoon's right, he doesn't have to confess now, he can still sort out his feelings and when the time's right he could tell her.

Right, that's the plan.

"I guess I don't have to do anything about it now." He concluded. "Why am I so afraid of her response? I'm not like this."

"Maybe you just like Yuri more than you ever did with Jia." Sunghoon says, leaning on the couch. What he said made Jay think about how different his feelings were for both Yuri and Jia. "Are you sure I can't tell anyone about this? Come on, almost everyone in our friend group could tell!"

Jay scoffs. "Let's wait for a little while. I don't want to make a big deal out of this now."

Sunghoon groans. "Fine."

After that he used Jake as an excuse to meet Yuri. He willingly became Jake's driver, pretended to wait for him outside of the building, and even pretended to buy Jake food when in truth it was for her. That was his routine for the rest of the month and he even did most of his work in advance to spend more time with her. Whenever she wanted to go somewhere or needed someone to accompany her, he always made time for her.

They studied together, watched a bunch of crappy horror movies, and accompanied one another to the mall to go shopping. They both did everything together under the guise of two friends casually hanging out together. He couldn't tell how Yuri feels about him because whenever he would look at her, he finds himself looking for too long he forgets why he was even staring.

"Your birthday is in two weeks?" Jay said after learning her birthday was drawing near. They were now at a cafe, both busy studying but since she was starting to feel sleepy, they decided to take a break.

"Yeah, but I don't want to do anything special that day." She sighs.

"It's summer break though, you can go home to your parents for a while. I'm sure they would like to spend your birthday with them." He suggested. He knew how close she was with her parents so the idea didn't seem so bad.

She smiled. "That sounds like an idea. Maybe I could also buy myself a little gift, you know for making it this far in life." She chuckles.

"You should buy one, you deserve it." He tells her. After saying that, he continues to write on his spare notebook additional information about the topic he was studying.
