Jb was healing, slowly. Jughead spent a lot of time at Betty's, especially when Betty had somewhere else to be. Couple days after Jughead met her sister, she led him to call their parents. It wasn't easy to convince them to be where they were. But it did one thing. It led Fp free from Toledo and he moved back to Alice, finally. After two weeks in New York City, Fp and Alice came to pick Jb up to a visit to Riverdale.
"It is weird without her. I got used to her," Betty said on their lunch break at Friday.
"You can't have her forever. You need your space and own life. And I'm sure she isn't gonna disappear anymore, we will see her around. And also, she is still coming back to your place when she comes back," Jughead stated as Carla and Joel observed the discussion.
"You need something more to focus on. And you'll have a free weekend. Meaning you are coming to my place on Saturday for a drink, and food too for Jones, maybe something for rest of us too," Carla made them all agreed to that and they were actually very happy she invited them.
For these last weeks it was always been either Betty or Jughead who participated on their Thurdays, since they didn't want to leave Jb alone at nights. She already spent her days alone while her brother and Betty was working. But now, finally four of them hanging out again, on their freetime.
Hour later, at the office Betty's phone buzzed.
Jughead: For you to something more to focus on. Date no. five. I'll come to your place. I miss having fun with only you, so you can't say no.
Betty: Okay. You have my permission to come.
"Spring rolls? We are doing spring rolls?" Betty raised her brow when she saw what was in Jughead's bag.
"Yes. Don't laugh. It's a good way to talk while focusing on something else too. It's very simple. You can't do it wrong. And those are freaking good," he said making Betty laugh. What is it with Jughead and food which made her smile, always?
"Where is your speaker? We need music," he then asked since he didn't see it anywhere near. It could seemed like it was just hanging and making food, but Jughead really planned the night. He thought that it would be nice to sit in the kitchen and while they'll focus on chopping and rolling, it'll be easier to talk, no time or posibility to feel nervous while doing something on their hands.
"Obviosly. On my nightstand, you go and get it," Betty said and continued right after as she took a better look of his groceries. "One question. Why the butter and chocolate?"
"You are teaching me to bake your cookies," he smirked and left to her bedroom to get the speaker.
And that's how it started. Chopping, cooking, baking, talking and listening to music. And of course they had some glasses of wine too. On every date they had had, Jughead had asked her simple questions, which would be good ones to ask on a date. There was a time when he knew those answers, but now, he really wanted to know if they had changed. Many of them had. He kept asking those today too.
"Most awful day of year?" Jughead asked, thinking she would say Thanksgiving (because of him). Or something else but interesting. He should have thought more.
"What question is that?" Betty looked at him, she didn't always understand him and his silly jokes or how his mind runs. Some of his questions were odd but also it was fun because they were different than usual. "A question," Jughead replied.
"Father's day," Betty said quietly after taking a big sip from her wine glass. Jughead bit his lip. Why wasn't he thinking about that, the question was stupid and the answer.. he felt himself so stupid. "Oh. I thought it would be Thanksgiving. Or the hottest day on July," he tried to explain what he was thinking. He thought it would have ended them deciding there won't be that kind of hardest day. If it would have been the Thanksgiving. Or he could have agreed if she would have said the hot day on July.
