"Good morning, Juggie. Care to join me for breakfast?" Jughead woke up her voice coming near, but not near enough. When he opened his eyes, it was Tempo next to him instead of Betty. She was standing there, leaning on the door frame smiling so big, hair in a messy bun all curly and natural. It was this kind of hair on her he liked. It offered the perfect frame to a perfect smile. She was already dressed up, black overalls, which made her look so cute. But why she was there so soon, ten o'clock?
"You left the bed? I would have liked to lay here with you. But 'cause you mentioned food, I'll be there," he grinned and strached a bit.
"We have time for those mornings, I hope," Betty said after she had turned her back and walked to the kitchen. Jughead smiled to that view and her words. Oh how he was waiting for those kind of mornings. They actually haven't had much of those since, well, never. In Riverdale it was always going to school or somewhere to investigate, it felt like they were always in a hurry. This life in here now, they weren't.
For a first minutes in the kitchen they just sat, drank and ate. Betty had bought everything you can imagine, few different kinds of bread, just baked, fruits, yoghurt, müsli, nuts, you name it. She did these kinds of things when she was nervous, she focused on being a good hostess, or aunt or daughter. And now she even wasn't sure if she were a hostess, friend or girlfriend.
Betty looked at her bread, she didn't know where to start. "No that there is no alcohol in our veins. Mmm. I don't know what to ask or say but I think we have to. And I bought all this for distract me. I'm nervous. Thoughts?" Betty said fast as she could making Jughead to chuckle.
He loved when she was like that, it make her looking so cute, little pink on her cheeks and all the words coming out of her mouth so quickly. "Okay. So. I would love to kiss you like yesterday again. And again. And sleep next to you. And date you," Jughead said narrowing his eyes like he was reading Betty's face expressions. There was still a smile on his face.
"I thought you love my couch and Tempo?" Betty smirked and she was so relived. "They will understand," Jughead grinned and looked to the living room where cat had his own fun with some toy.
"But for real. Are you really in this? Because if this go wrong, I'm scared what happen to me. You know, I was just planning to become crazy catlady," Betty tried really hard to find the right words. Meaning she can't lose him ever again. She won't survive that.
"And that's why I saved you, you don't deserve that," Jughead shooked his head to her catlady plan. It was insane and scary. Mostly because he really wasn't sure if Betty was serious about that. But he was serious about Betty, he had known for a while now. There was no one else he could imagine his life, there was only this one girl, who made him feel so much and so strongly. "Betts. I'm not in this either if we don't do this properly, I won't survive losing you, that's why I kept my distance, at least tried to kept it," he said thinking about all of those dates he resisted his desire to just kiss her.
"So this is it? No games, no teasing, we are serious about us?" Betty asked.
"I'm in this for a long haul, like I said some years ago," Jughead smiled making Betty bite her lip and smile. "I remember that. How are we gonna do this? You are the only person I have been in a relationship with," she went on, showing all her insecurity. She had no idea how these things work if you are grown up.
"Just like then. It isn't rocket science, Betts. But, I have a feeling we'll take our time?" Jughead understood what she meant. But he had always hated when you needed to write a labels or say it out loud what is the situation between the two of them. And he was also quite sure, they had moved here to this point in very clever pace strenghtening their friendship first. It would feel also very natural to have that kind of pace from now on. He really enjoyed how things went last night.
