Quite soon it came time for the first ultrasound. For once, it was exciting to woke up on Monday.
Their doctor was so nice and her voice so calming, Betty even forgot to panic the whole thing. Jughead was just excited and Betty kept looking at him with heart eyes.
Who'd have guessed Jughead Jones would be like this?
He had been like this all these weeks they had known about the baby. He was planning how they can live at the apartment, how he can work and be there for Betts and the baby. And the names, oh my, he started a list. Betty loved him for all of that, but she was calmer and maybe little scared too. I mean, a person lived in her.
The doctor applied the gel onto Betty's belly, which haven't got any bigger yet. Well, a little but no one else couldn't tell. She just felt herself bigger, but actually her jeans fitted still very well. No need yet for those leggings Jughead bought. Gel was cold but Betty ignored that immediately when she looked at the screen where they saw their little bean. She squeezed tightly Jughead's hand.
But soon the voices went blurry, because it sounded like the doctor was congratulating them for having two babies.
Two babies.
Two.
2!!
"Oh my god, oh my god. Why I didn't think of that? Shit," Betty whispered to Jughead when the doctor had confirmed the two strong heartbeats, two little beans on the screen. Jughead gave a squeeze to calm her, stroking her hand on his thumb, while he was thinking what the hell he just heard. Two kids?
"They'll be cute," he said because he knew Betty needed that. She needed something from him. That was the only thing he could think. But that'll do. She just needed words. She was the one having the kids inside her.
Two? Two? Two!!
"Thank god I have you," still in shock she looked at her boyfriend with a bit steadier heart beat. She just didn't know Jughead's one was too way faster than normal. But she excepted his words. For now, in this moment. The babies will be cute.
Apparently doctor took some measurements after confirmed there was two little ones there, but that all was little fuzzy for both Betty and Jughead. At the end, they just heard that everything was fine and again, congratulations. The nurse from the maternity clinic will call the next day. Well, okay.
"What the fuck Jug! Fuck fuck fuck!" Betty cursed when they were on the street again breathing the fresh air. She was nearly hyperventilating and needed the support from the wall next to them. She sat down on the street eventually and Jughead sat next to her wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
His mind was spinning but there were thoughts which had been becoming more clear second after second, minute after minute. He gave a squeeze to Betty who was breathing there in his arms and then Jughead was ready to be there for her.
"Betts. I love you. And you made me so happy when you made me a daddy. I feel I'm that already even they aren't here yet. That was the second I saw the test on the kitchen counter. And you know what. The happy feeling, it's the double now. It was a surprise yeah and I really don't know why we didn't think of this possibility. But it doesn't matter. We are having two incredible cuties and we made them, they are from us, can you believe that? We are lucky ones. And yes, we can handle this, I have no doubts. We can do this, there is nothing we can do as a team. Need more?" he stroked Betty's hair while ranting and kissed the side of her head at the end of the words.
She raised her face and looked at the man who always had the words and chuckled a little. "You know. You are much better speaking softy than the hatred you gave," she pecked his cheek. "Truths are easier than made up stuff. But do you believe me, love?"
