The morning sky was a beautiful blue, holding with it a soft and easing scent of humid air soaring across the entire city. Its beauty and bliss, creating a warm feeling of joy and confidence to the flapping birds that began their morning search - a morning meal was every creature's first thoughts.
As peaceful and quiet as the morning was, the tone was a little higher in the Lagos city hospital. After eight full months and some weeks of enjoying nourishing and steady growth, Shola's child was finally ready to reveal itself to the world. The hospital was at full alert, with Shola's voice occupying almost every corner of the hospital.
The labour had started some hours to midnight, the previous day, and it was already almost seven by the time the baby finally braced the world with its cry. A cry that was surely relieving to his mother, and Mrs. Akande who stayed with her all through the labour.
It's a boy!
Mrs. Akande's eyes filled with joyful tears as the doctors handed the baby to Shola to see before passing him on to her.
"What should we name him?" Mrs. Aknade couldn't keep her eyes off him.
"I have only ever loved one person almost as much as I loved my dad and Samuel, and that's Jimmy," Shola turned her tired eyes to Mrs. Akande, "So we will name him Jimmy, because I am going to love him with all my heart just like I loved your son."
With a very emotional stare, filled with tears finding their way down her cheeks, Mr. Akande replied, "That's beautiful. I love it."
"And so do I." Samuel's voice came from behind as he clunked the door close behind him.
