The next few days were a blur. Since the threat, Jasper was now officially dating Diana. And every time I saw him and her they looked happy, but deep inside that seed of jealousy seemed to be growing sprouts. I mean I knew Jasper was the definition of bad boy player, but these mixed signals were starting to make me feel dizzy. One moment I'm on cloud nine kissing this guy who seemed like my charming prince carrying me off to wonderland and the next he was my nemesis, I guy that I could no longer even look at! What was happening to me? But one things for sure, I was definitely falling for him. Hard. And I can already see that this is not a good idea, so I just kept busying myself with work and school. I had a study routine which I actually kept to and I knew I was improving. But just like the calm tide before the storm, I knew something was going to happen soon. And oh boy it did! I was walking to the girls toilet as my girl pains had just started. The misery of being a girl. And just before I reached the handle to leave,I heard harsh sobs, they were so soft I hardly heard them at all. I followed the sobs to a toilet cubicle. I turned the nob as it was unlocked and saw Diana. The shock must have appeared on my face because at just one glimpse of me, she wiped her eyes and stared brutally back at me.
"Don't you know it's rude to stare?" She snarled back at me
I was so close to just taking a U-turn and walking away, however, even though her lips were in a frown, they were still trembling and her eyes were pleading me to stay. These mixed signals were getting on my nerves. I crouched next to her, and just sat. I heard her sniffle three times, I knew she was doing all she could to keep quiet. I searched in my bag and gave her my tissue packet.
"Thanks" she mumbled with a confused look.
"Look, I know it's none of my business, and you don't need to tell me anything. But are you alright?"
She wiped her face with the tissue and stared blankly at the floor. Silence. And not the comforting silence but the eerie, awkward silence. I couldn't bare it, and just before the last thread of hope that she was ever going to talk again she started saying something. Finally!
"Dads going to leave tomorrow. He says it's for work. But mum caught him red handed, with that bitch. The one he always goes to, every time he makes up a lie of going anywhere. Em, my family is shattering into tiny fragments of what they were before, I can't deal with it. And then there's Jasper..." Her voice trailed off and she sighs.
I couldn't believe it, she had so many things to deal with. I never knew that she was going through so much. But she still has to talk about that jerk and I swear even though this is the longest conversation with Diana I've ever had before, if he's done anything to upset her I will personally make it my goal to screw his life.
" Jasper?" I urge her, I need to know.
" Jasper doesn't make my life any better. Every time I'm with him, it's like he's not even there half the time. Even when I try to be the most seductive person I can be, he just doesn't seem to be bothered. I can't handle the unrequited love. Em, nobody loves me." She starts wailing again. I pat her back awkwardly, I never was great at physical contact. But what really surprised me was that Jasper wasn't interested with Diana, I mean if he couldn't be pulled with Diana's charms then who could pull him. A flutter of hope springs into my chest and I stab it repeatedly. No. He does not like me. Pull yourself together woman.
I helped Diana up, and waited with her in the toilet so she could re-apply her make up. The little crack in her perfect mask of lies had healed and she was back to the perfect Diana. In a way she was like me, she pretended. It was a little comforting to know that nobody-not even Diana- was perfect! Just when I was about to leave she grips my wrist hard, again not liking the touch of her skin I turn around immediately.
" You have to promise not to let anyone know about this Em. I'm serious" she looked me in the eye with confidence and determination. But I've seen those eyes weep like never before just a second ago, so I understand how hard it must be.
" I promise, you don't need to worry." I walk away and just before I reach the door she calls me again. I turn around again.
"Thanks. For being there." She look at me with soft eyes. I feel warm and tingly.
"Anytime Diana."

After lunch that day, I walked up to Jasper. I knew that if I didn't know what was up with him, it would eat me. Alive. Plus I always was nosey. But I made it a rule not to look into his eyes. Cause his eyes definitely had some hypnotising power which would always make crumble. I walked up to him, where he sat in the shade of a tree on a bench. He was hanging around with the most popular people on school, but they didn't shatter my confidence. I noticed that Diana was nowhere to be seen, and that was good. I strides up to him with my face held high, partly to avoid the eyes.
"Em? What are you doing here?" Jasper grins madly, if I imagined him as a dog I would be sure he would have been wagging his tail too.
"I needed to talk to you. Privately." I look around, making sure that what I just said was crystal clear. Jasper gets up and walks with me further away from everybody.
"Already running back to me?" His laughs throatily, this was not a good idea.
"Look, about us-" I get interrupted by Jasper.
"Us?" He arches a eyebrow
"Yes, us. Like you and me, individually, as people." I feel myself rambling.
"God you look cute when your confused." I stare at him even more annoyed and definitely more red.
Then I can feel myself risking the eyes, and they definitely got me. The next thing I know I'm on his lips. Again. I look deeply into his hazel eyes, then I look again, suddenly aware of my environment, behind in the shadows is pale face looking very disturbed. Diana.
