Chapter 7: Inescapable

Sora, Riku, and Kairi ran down a hall directly at a group of droids. The droids weren't expecting anything from any of them and were easily destroyed. They continued running down another hall and destroying droids that they came across. They finally stopped after a solid three minutes at an intersection.

"Think we got their attention?" Sora asked.

Almost in response, droids began marching towards them from the hall they came, the hall they were going to go down, and the halls to their sides. They dematerialized their keyblades and put their hands up in surrender.

"The warden wants to speak with you," a droid said.

Sora, Riku and Kairi were escorted to a large control room. When they reached it, they saw the warden sitting in what almost looked like a throne.

"So," the warden said, "you are the ones who have been assisting the Jedi. Obviously, I am thr warden: Osi Sobeck."

"Okay," Sors said, "so what do you want with Master Piell?"

"He knows a set of hyperspace coordinates that could prove fatal to the Separatists. It could also prove fatal to the Jedi. If I got my hands on it--"

"Sir," a droid came up to Sobeck, "we have located the Jedi Even Piell. He is with General Obi-wan Kenobi."

"Get them here," he turned back to the keyblade wielders, "did you really think your 'distraction' would work?"

A few minutes later, Obi-wan, Master Piell, and the clones with them were brought into the room the keyblade wielders were in.

"Well," Obi-wan said, "I can see the distraction worked."

"Yeah," Riku said, "about as well as your escape plan."

"Anakin and Ahsoka haven't been caught yet."

Sobeck walked in front of the line of prisoners, threatening all of them in an attempt to get Master Piell to give him the information. He even went as far as to execute one of the officers there.

"Even if I told you," Master Piell said after a while, "I only have half of the information. Without the other half it is useless to you."

"Oh, don't worry," he replied, "we'll have the other half soon enough."

An explosion went off outside and the room went dark. Everyone from the Republic immediately sprang into action. Lightsabers ignited, keyblades were summoned, and blasters all went off. By the time the lights came back up, the only things in the room were Sobeck and a lot of destroyed droids.

"After them," he screamed, "don't let them escape!"

The escapees were running towards a platform that Obi-wan and Master Piell had been told R2 landed at. They got to the platform and figured out that R2 and his reprogrammed battle droids were inside the Citadel. R2 and his droids returned with hostiles on their tails. Coming from another doorway were Anakin, Ahsoka, and their group, droids also on them.

"Is everyone here?" Anakin asked, blocking blaster bolts.

"I think so," Riku said, doing the same, "now let's get out."

Big bolts hit a clone causing everyone to get to cover. While behind cover they then heard a droning sound.

"STAPs," Anakin said, "about a dozen of them."

Sora got an idea. He mapped a way to get from the first one to the one at the end. He then air stepped his way there and destroyed the final droid, taking its place. He quickly got the hang of how to pilot it and began shooting the tower that was pinning down their group. Anakin and Obi-wan leapt to a STAP each and somewhat followed suit, but taking out other forces instead. Finally, Sora got a lucky shot that deactivated the droid. On the ground, the rest were fighting the commando droids. When only one was left it got into the turret and shot down Anakin, Obi-wan, and Sora, and went back to pinning down everyone. More droids began charging out of the Citadel.

"We need to move," Echo said, "now!"

"What," Fives said, "Echo? What are you doing?"

Echo grabbed a shield from a fallen commando and ran to the shuttle. The turret followed him. He got to the ramp, shooting his blaster through the shield. Then the turret got a good shot on the shuttle. It blew up. Echo with it. Fives called put for him, but it was too late. Droids were pouring out of the Citadel now.

"We have to move now," Obi-wan said.

"Wait," Sora said, "how are we going to get out of here now? Should we tell the Republic?"

Anakin had a thoughtful look on his face. He turned to R2.

"Go with Sora, Riku, and Kairi to the communications center," he told R2, "and contact the Jedi Temple."

R2 beeped his compliance and Anakin repeated the orders to the keyblade wielders. Kairi summoned light after locking onto the droids in front of them. A path was blown for them and they ran back into the Citadel.

"We'll hold off as long as we can," Obi-wan said.

The three ran to the communications center with R2 flying by their side. There were even more droids than they thought were possible.

"You know," Kairi said, casting fire into a super battle droid, felling it, "I don't think this war is fully worth it."

"What choices do we have," Riku said, slashing a battle droid, "if we didn't come, then we'd probably be leaving the Jedi, and the light here, to die."

"But what are the Separstists fighting for? What's the Republic fighting for?"

"Are we really asking this now?" Sora asked, deflecting a blaster bolt.

"I'm just saying," Kairi dodged a bolt, "I've already died once. I don't want to do it again."

"Don't worry," Riku said, "Sora will protect you no matter what. And I'll protect you both."

R2 beeped something. After another minute they made it to the communications center. Riku guarded the entrance while Sora and Kairi waited for R2 to contact the Jedi. Once they were finally contacted, they saw Masters Windu and Yoda as holograms.

"Sora, Kairi," Yoda said, "have trouble, did you? In your escape from the Citadel?"

"Yes Master Yoda," Sora said, "our shuttle was destroyed. Think you could spare the 358th to pick us up?"

"Send help, we will," a map of the land for the next few miles showed, "pick you up here," a small island glowed yellow, "in several hours, we will."

"Great," Kairi said, "we'll go make sure the others know."

The hologram disappeared. They all ran out to the landing pad, encountering many droids. They made it there and saw everyone still living.

"What's the plan?" Obi-wan asked.

R2 replayed the message.

"Alright then," Anakin said, "we'd best get underway.
