Chapter Two - Welcome to the Glade

I watched the boy who said his name was Alby reach his hand out to me hesitantly, as if he expected to be punched. For some reason, I liked that he would try to welcome me, even though there was a possibility I would break his nose, so instead I shook his hand. Gally stared, very annoyed, nose still bleeding, before climbing out of the contraption, muttering under his breath. My eyes travelled over Alby, before I rested my gaze on the last boy, the golden haired one. I raised my eyebrows in question. He grinned, lighting up his face and my heart, before introducing himself. "I'm Newt."

I stared at the one called Newt until he turned away. I faced the other girl who was smirking. "What?" I whispered, and she nodded her head towards Newt. I blushed, shaking my head, but she ignored me. I sighed, standing up. Alby helped the other girl up, while talking to the both of us. "As I said before, this is the Glade. We call ourselves the Gladers. You might not have noticed from down here, but you guys are the only girls, so you might have to stay close to me and Newt until the boys can get used to you. Come on out, and you'll see what happens around here, then you'll get the Tour. Got it?" Me and the other girl both nodded.

Alby went to turn around and climb out, but paused, truning back to us. "But before any of that happens..." He looked to Newt, then back at us. "Do you guys remember anything before now, anything at all?" The girl beside me and I shook our heads, but I hesitated, and Alby noticed. "Are you sure? Do you remember your name? Where you come from?" I nodded, then shook my head. "I... remember my name, but that's... all." Alby raised his eyebrows as if to ask, Well, what's your name then? so I answered, "Amy. My name is Amy." Alby nodded, and Newt called to us from the top of the contraption. "You guys gonna hurry up or spend the rest of your bloody lives in there?" Alby gave him a pointed look, and he smiled. Alby clambered out, and when Newt offered me a hand, I ignored it, instead leaping out nimbly myself. The other girl followed after me. Newt, still leaning over the side of the metal box, grinned, but smothered it with a frown.

I turned around the place we were in in awe. It was surrounded by four massive concrete walls, an opening in one. "The Doors." Alby said behind me. "It's - wow. You guys live here? How long have you been here? What's behind the walls? Who -" Newt stopped me with a wave of his hand. "Whoa, whoa. Slow down there. Give me a minute, and you'll get the tour." He spun around. "Chuck!" He hollered, and a young boy, maybe twelve or thirteen, bounded up to us. Me and the other girl stepped back, wary. "Hi! I'm Chuck! You guys are the first girls, and there are two of you! That's awesome!" He seemed really excited, and I couldn't help but smile. He seemed so young and happy. Alby turned to me and the girl. "Chuck will give you guys the tour, and then he'll take you to dinner." He informed us, before turning to Chuck and pointing at him. "Don't let them out of your sight, got it? The guys here aren't used to them yet and might get a bit... rowdy." He nodded at us in ackknowledgement and left, Newt behind him, discussing something with him.

"Chuck, right?" I said to the young boy standing before me. "That's me! Do you remember your name yet? Usually it takes a day or two, sometimes a week." The other girl looked worried. "I've remembered my name, but she hasn't." I explained. "Oh okay then, I'll just call you Greenie." The other girl raised an eyebrow. "Okay?" She said. I shrugged when she looked at me. "Alright then, so we'll start right here. That there, where you came out of, we call it the Box..."

That's the second chapter over and done with! I hope you all enjoyed it, sorry if it was a bit boring, it was just a filler (;
Next chapter should have a bit more action!
