Reyna pov
My life before this... It all seemed so simple yet tough. My life was normal. The constant bickers and quarrels I had with mom. The pushy boyfriend, Caiden, that I thought I loved. My dad who was so happy to finally see his daughter after 5 years. The moment when my mother and father became a family again. Lily, an innocent girl who like me found her werewolf mate... Logan, lily's mate, the caring sweet guy who always knew what to do when others didn't. Aaron, the man who changed my life, who made me experience true love and devotion. The man who taught me to become stronger, to believe in myself and those around me. His quirky smile etched in my memory. It gave me comfort and warmth. I... Aaron's pov
I watched as the bullet sped toward Reyna. I screamed as it hit her. My wolf was howling in agony. Her eyes looked at me. Her face confused and sad. I... I couldn't protect her!!! I am a failure. Tears welded up in my eyes and I fell to my knees. Reyna's small little body slumped over on the tree. Her dead eyes trained on me but now closed. "Look what you've done Aaron... you've killed your mate, just like when you killed your parents..." The red wolf mocked. I let the tears slide. He was right! I didn't protect Reyna... I didn't protect my parents either, I let them all die! No wonder Caiden hated me. I am a failure. I am not made for being alpha. I suddenly heard a twig snap behind me. I whirled around just in time to see the red wolf plunging a knife into the ground where I had just been kneeling. I wipe my eyes and runny nose. Dammit I almost got killed! Wait why am I mad? I should die! I am not worth a life such as this! I am incapable to live after this! I let my mate die!!! Tears streamed down my face. The red wolf smiled. "Aw... Is someone crying? There there, just hold still and I'll take the pain away..." I heard the red wolf whisper in my ear. He pulled out a silver bullet from his pocket. He's right. I should let him kill me.... I heard him cock his gun and put it to the back of my head. I got a sudden pain in my stomach. Is my wolf finally feeling the effects of my worthlessness? Save Reyna!!!
He howled at me. Save her? How? There is nothing I can do! I can't save her!! She's dead!! I growl back at him. No you can still save her! You need to change her into a wolf!!! My eyes widened. Change her into a wolf? Would that really save her? Suddenly I hear the red wolf start to pull on the trigger. My wolf defends its self and makes me jump out of the way, wasting the bullet. "Dammit! What are you doing Aaron!? I can take away the pain!" The red wolf says. "If you want me to suffer you would leave me alive!!! To be alone without my mate!!" I growl at him. He suddenly smirked. "So... you wanna fight Huh? That's okay." He said. "Huh? Fight? I'd be glad too!" I say back. "Now that I can turn into a wolf I can defeat you!" He said smirking bigger than ever. My wolf doesn't back down. I snarl at him. He laughs and turns into a wolf. He whips his tail back and forth angrily and snarls, his ears going down. I do the same. I will save Reyna!! I leap toward him and we start in a vicious battle. He lunges at me and I swipe his muzzle with my claws, cutting his snout. He whimpers but then snarls and growls at me. I growl back. He leaps on top of me. I gasp for breath but don't give up. I howl in pain as I feel my rib began to break under his enormous body. He bit at my face. I whimpered and then found more strength. It took a lot of effort but I managed to push him off of me. His eyes darken in rage. So you think your strong? We'll see about that!! He mind linked me. I snarl and bare my teeth. I know I am stronger than you! I have a faithful pack unlike you!!! I mind link back. He growls and the leaps at me. I dodge him and grab his neck, shaking my head back and forth, trying to hurt him. I taste blood in my mouth as I hear him whimper. He bites me back making my neck get cut as well. He stand there panting for awhile. Hang on Reyna! I then jump up onto the red wolfs back. I start biting his face but he flings me off and I hit a tree. I whimper. Dammit Logan he's too strong!!! I mind link Logan. I get no response. Don't die on me Logan! I mind link again. The red wolf pounces on me and we engage in another bitting match. Sudden the red wolf seizes me by the neck. I howl in pain. He keeps biting down on me, twisting my neck. Trying to break my neck and kill me. I whimper. I can't die, I need to save Reyna!!! I growl and bark at him and slash his eye with my claw. He whimpers and let's go of me. I pant, so does he. This battle is taking to long you need to save her now!!! My wolf growled at me. I'm trying!!! I snarl back. I then jump toward the red wolf and latch my teeth onto his fur. He whimpers and I growl. I bit down as hard as I can and start twisting his neck like he did to me. Finally I hear the bones snap and he his limp. I stand there a little longer, holding onto the dead wolf. My only thought; it's over, he's finally dead! I can save Reyna now! I keep repeating this but I didn't love a muscle. Aaron... Reyna, she needs you! My wolf begs. I drop the red wolf and trot over to her small limp body. Blood pooled around her, her eyes closed, her lips dry, her skin pale, there she laid... Dead... because I couldn't save her soon enough. SAVE HER!!! NOW!! My wolf bark out. I change into my human form and take her dead body into my arms, laying her on my lap, her head rolled onto my chest. My eyes blurred as tears poured down my face. "I'm so sorry Reyna." I whisper before I uncontrollably start sobbing. You must change her soon!! My wolf scolded but he didn't press further, he knew I was hurting and I need time to cope. After a few minutes I pulled away from crying on her and wipe my eyes. I then bared my teeth and bit deep into her neck, where I had bitten her before. Where Caiden had bitten, almost breaking our mate bond. I pulled away and stay there waiting for any sign of life. A minute later, nothing. 3 minutes later, nothing. 6 minutes later, nothing! I sighed and cursed under my breath. It's not working!! Dammit! I yelled at my wolf. Calm down, give it time! He calmly stated. I sigh and stare at her. Wait she's not pale anymore!!! Her chest starts moving up and down slowly. My eyes widen. It's working!!! A few minutes later she makes a soft noise and then her eyes flutter open. My eyes weld up in tears. "Reyna?!" I ask. She starts coughing and I get worried. After she's done coughing she looks at me, her eyes become scared and confused. She reaches down to where she was shot. I look down as well. Her shirt was still full of blood. She lifted up her shirt hesitantly. Her bullet wound was gone! Nothing but a scar now!! I sigh in relief. "Reyna!" I say as I hug her. She sits there in my arms. Is she alright? Does she remember me? Does she know who I am and what's happened?! I pull away. "Reyna? Are you alright?" I ask. As I look at her I see that she's crying. I get worried. Why was she crying. "Aaron!" She whispers in a weak voice. Her arms wrap around me and she starts sobbing. I sigh and close my eyes as I hug her back! Oh thank god she's alright!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much!! We sit there for who knows how long, crying and hugging. "I love you so much!!!" I say. "Aaron... how come I feel different!?"
