I opened my bedroom door quietly and immediately paused.

Hazel was sprawled across my bed, buried beneath the covers, fast asleep. Her breathing was slow and even, completely unaware of the chaos that had lived in my chest just hours earlier. I closed the door gently behind me and headed straight for my closet. Slipping out of my outfit, I pulled on a loose dress-something soft, something safe-before returning to the bed.

She stirred as I sat down, rubbing her eyes as she pushed herself up slightly.

"Oh good, you're back. I thought I heard the door unlock and some shuffling," she murmured, her voice still heavy with sleep.

I smiled at her.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" I asked politely.

"Yeah, I did," she said, squinting at me before smirking. "I don't think I should even ask if you did. It's pretty obvious."

A giggle slipped out before I could stop it.

"Megan called," Hazel added casually.

"Oh really?" I asked, already reaching for my phone and scrolling through it.

"She was FaceTiming you on your iPad," she explained. "I told her you weren't around and that was it."

"She tried calling me too," I said, noticing the missed calls. "I put my phone on do not disturb."

Today was Friday-meaning Meg would be home later. The thought made my stomach flutter.

"How was dinner?" Hazel asked.

Heat crept up my neck instantly as memories of last night surfaced.
"That good?" she teased.

"Well... I enjoyed myself," I admitted. "I always do when I'm with Zach."

She giggled.

"And that's it?" She studied my face, still smiling. "Why are you blushing? The guy isn't even in this room."

"I'm just happy, Hazel," I said softly.

She narrowed her eyes at me.
"Wait-before I assume the worst. Are you still a virgin?"

I giggled nervously.

"Kyla Davison!" she gasped. "You did it, didn't you?"

"Stop shouting," I warned.

She froze.
"Okay. Answer me then."

I nodded.

"Finally!" she screamed, bouncing on the bed.

Oh God. I definitely shouldn't have told her.

"Haze-" I warned again.

She just laughed, still jumping.
"How was it?"

I covered my face as my cheeks burned.
"Oh my God, she's blushing so hard," Hazel teased, dragging out the last word.

"It wasn't as painful as I imagined," I admitted quietly, shrugging.

"Really?" she said, surprised. "Usually it is-at least that's what they say. I've never had a dick inside of me before."

I laughed.

"True. It just wasn't excruciating like I thought it would be."

"Well," she said thoughtfully, "I've read that not every woman experiences pain like that. So it doesn't really matter."

Her phone rang.

"Oh," I said as she picked it up.

"Hello? ... Yes, this is Hazel ... Oh, okay, I'll hold."
She paused, then continued, her tone polite and amused.
"Good morning ... I'm good, how are you doing? ... Yeah, they did tell me you weren't around. It's okay, no need to apologise-I understand you're very busy." She giggled softly.
"Yes, that's true ... Tomorrow night? ... Yeah ... Just two? ... That sounds perfect. Okay, no problem. Thank you, have a great day. Bye."
