“Here, take these.” I handed her the pills. “You’ll feel better after drinking those. Oh—and finish the water.”

She followed my instructions obediently, wincing as she swallowed before collapsing back against the pillows.

“How did we get home?”

I chuckled, watching her squint at the ceiling like it might give her answers.
“I drove. Unlike you, Megan, I made sure not to be super wasted.”

She stretched her arms above her head, yawning loudly. “I missed being that wild. I hope I didn’t do anything stupid.”

The words barely left her mouth before I burst out laughing.

“Oh no!!” she gasped, instantly sitting up.

“You kissed Hazel.”

She screamed and immediately hid her face in the blanket.
“Oh noooo!!”

I laughed so hard my stomach hurt—until I finally felt merciful.
“I’m joking.”

She slowly uncovered her face and stared at me. No—glared.

“I hate you.”

I giggled, completely unrepentant.
“I know you love me. Come on, we’re late for breakfast.”

I pushed the blankets aside, and she shuffled off to wash her face while I went to the closet, already knowing exactly what she’d need—something comfortable, something forgiving. Luxury had taught me one thing early: recovery required preparation.

“Nice to see you again, Megan,” Caleb said after they greeted each other.

“You guys have met before?” Zach asked, clearly surprised.

“Yes. At an ice cream shop, if I remember correctly,” Caleb replied. Megan nodded.

“Dude, what were you doing in an ice cream shop?” Zach asked, and I giggled.

“I had taken Kyla on a date,” Caleb said calmly.

“It was our first hangout after he came into my life,” I added, suddenly aware of how much weight those words still carried.

“Now I understand,” Zach said. “I was starting to wonder what you were thinking?”

“Why? Doesn’t he eat ice cream?” Meg asked.

“I do,” Caleb replied, “it’s just that I don’t like it.”

“Yet you took Kyla on an ice cream date.” Megan raised her eyebrows.

“I was trying to get to know her better and for her to be comfortable with me.”

She nodded, understanding dawning on her face.

“How sweet,” I mocked, earning a round of laughter.

“You know, little sister,” Caleb said, his voice softening, “I miss having our brother-sister moments. I don’t even remember the last time we went out together.”

“Well, you’ve been taking Ari out lately,” I teased lightly. “And I can’t compare to her, obviously.”

I didn’t mean it. I knew work kept him busy—but teasing felt easier than admitting how much I missed him.

“Now that’s not fair,” he said. “You know how I feel about her.”

I giggled.

“Wait—Ari as in the model?” Megan asked. “The one everyone thinks you’re in a relationship with?”
