"i love you, mother." a sixteen year old akaashi said to his mother.

akaashi rarely said that to her, it was a practice they had never practiced, but something in him said this was an appropriate time.

akaashi pricked the skin off his hand. he had to find better ways to deal with his anxiety.

he was greeted with silence.

he hadn't expected anything else from her anyway.

akaashi's mother ignored him, like she had done so for the past few days, past few weeks, since he was formally accepted into fukorodani.

akaashi wanted to think that his mother was irate because she would miss him. most of their time was spent with each other and now that he was enrolled into the dorm system at fukorodani, they would barely speak. but that was hopeful thinking. akaashi's mother wasn't upset about him leaving. she was upset about akaashi disobeying her instructions by choosing to go to fukorodani instead of the school of her choice.

it seemed like she wanted him to fail, to not go to the school all together. she never mentioned it, like it wasn't real at all.

"i'll be going now, take care of yourself." akaashi said softly, feeding into the calm atmosphere of the limousine.

he looked at his mother one last time, just for his own gratification. she was the most beautiful woman he had laid eyes on-granted he hadn't seen many others. her black locks reached down her back, in a rapunzel fashion. a black suit and long leather gloves always coated her lengthy body and the reason for this was unbeknownst to akaashi. whenever he asked she said she was "cold".

the beauty in her face was her real asset though.

akaashi looked quite like her in comparison to his father, in which he shared little to no resemblance to.

and maybe in this moment of appreciation akaashi had been possessed by something,

maybe he had lost his mind,

to even try to be intimate with his mother

just this one last time.

the woman who birthed him,

the cold hearted one who raised him and cared for him,

just maybe

this one and only time

he could try to give her a hug...

and maybe,

she would give it back.

"do not ever try to touch me you imbecilic, ignorant, disgraceful, undeserving child." his mother slapped his hand away from her.

"get out of my sight." she finally hissed. "now."

akaashi finched. "i'm sorry, mother."

"now!" she screamed, her face all red in color.

akaashi stepped out of the car,

he didn't look back.

he didn't dare.

he wouldn't

he couldn't.

because he knew she still wouldn't be looking at him.

he knew that she would rather look at the wild animals in the trees, or the grass that she despised so much rather than looking at her own son.

akaashi knew his mother well enough for that.

"HEY HEY HEY," akaashi heard his roommate cry out.

they had company over. again. at two in the morning.

"i hate this." he groaned while pushing his face into the pillow.

this was going to be a long year.
