As Namjoon approached, your nerves went through the roof. No, he didn't have a sour face, expressing that you hadn't gotten the job, - in fact, he looked to be happy - but that didn't mean that you were any less anxious.
When Jimin saw Joon, he set his hand on your shoulder in reassurance, as if wishing you luck, before getting up out of his seat. He let Namjoon take his spot back and walked over to Yoongi, who was leaning against a wall, watching Joon from afar.
"You got the job. You start on Monday."
What?
Seriously?
Holy fucking shit.
"Namjoon, don't fucking play with me," you said softly, heart racing in your chest, so fast it nearly took your breath away. "Don't lie to me."
He smiled at you, those deep dimples carving his cheeks, and you knew, seeing it in his eyes, that he wasn't messing around, but you still refused to believe your dreams were coming true. "I'm not."
"Holy shit! Really?!" You said, jumping up out of your seat. You couldn't control yourself; you were so goddamn happy. You practically pounced on Namjoon when you pulled him into a hug, arms wrapping tightly around his shoulders. "No! I couldn't have! You're joking."
He chuckled into your shoulder, shaking his head in denial, as his arms wrapped back around you, smoothing down the fabric on your back. "I'm not. You got the job."
"Really?!"
It was amusing how happy you were. It was precious how you refused to believe him, not fully trusting him.
Eyes nearly disappearing behind his cheeks, he smiled widely. "Yes, y/n."
It finally hit you that he was telling the truth, and you were so excited, exhilaration racing through your blood and veins. You felt like you could do anything, a smile big on your face, and you were sure you had never been happier than in that moment, your heart racing, head spinning, and arms wrapped so tightly around him that they were going numb; you just couldn't show how grateful you were, at least not with that mere hug.
"Oh, my god, Namjoon, thank you!" You said gratefully, pressing the quickest peck to his neck, squeezing him. "Holy shit. I don't know how I can thank you properly. How can I make up for this?"
It was so comforting hearing you this excited, smiley, and thankful for him. He felt so good about himself for once, as if he had only finally done something worthwhile, and closed his eyes as he hugged you, loving the way you felt in his chest.
The feeling of being desired was enough of a payment for him. "You don't need to repay me."
If only you could feel what he did in that moment, you'd understand that nothing was worth more than feeling sought for, wanted, but you didn't refusing to take that as an answer.
"No, Namjoon... how can I repay you?" You looked up at him, hand running down his clothed arm. "I can't thank you enough. I'll do anything."
You were so cute.
He smiled at you, his dark eyes softening. He glanced from your lips to your eyes quickly, debating whether to kiss you in front of everyone. It would give him exposure, but he wanted it so bad. "You don't need to repay me. You've done enough."
"But, Namjoon-"
In an instant, to quiet your arguing, he had grabbed your chin and pulled your face down to meet his. His other hand slowly moved to your hip, pulling you to sit down on his lap, legs overlapping his. Your lips intertwined perfectly, soft and warm, and you didn't hesitate to slip your hands back into the purple hair at the back of his neck.
Yes, this was all public, and a few people were most definitely watching or at least side-eyeing, but neither of you cared, more focused on the way you felt against each other. The way you were touching him, the way he was touching you, the way your lips fit... none of it was new, but that didn't mean it didn't feel like you two had done this many times, every time he touched you giving you butterflies.
It was a moment later, when he felt your tongue trying to get in his mouth that he pulled back, looking at you softly. Your hands had somehow, in the midst of the kiss, found grip on the collar of his suit, and you didn't let him go, even when the kiss was over.
You looked around and luckily, nobody seemed to have noticed, more caught up in drinking, chatting, or partying.
"You don't need to repay me," he said, looking into your eyes as his hand came up and tucked your hair behind your ear. "I don't want anything but for you to stay in my life."
Your heart raced in your chest, your palms sweating against the expensive fabric of his suit. He was talking with passion, he meant what he was saying, and you had never seen this side of him.
"I know you got a job, and so this whole ordeal is over, but I don't want this to end... our friendship. I want you to stay with me, and we don't have to do anything intimate, but I at least want you to stay. That's all I want."
With soft eyes, you looked at him, your hand falling down his chest slowly. "I wasn't going to leave. You're my only friend, and I wouldn't have anyone to talk to."
He smiled. "Good. Then we're on the same terms."
But you two weren't. That didn't seem like a fair trade-off; he gave you something you had always wanted, while in return you only promised to continue doing what you had no plans of stopping in the first place. He said getting you a position wasn't a big deal, and it might not have been for him, but it was more than a big deal for yourself.
How could you repay him?

Sorry for the hiatus. I didn't realize I hadn't posted for that long until it was too late.
Anyways, random, but name your favorite movie(s):
Mine are (some are kind of childish, and I know. I'm sorry): Juno, Vacation, Without a Paddle, The Polar Express, IT, and my all time favorite... Train To Busan. :).
That was a long ass list, but that's because I'm indecisive and can't choose which I would rather watch. 😭🤚
