Caitlyn POV
'Hey, wait up.' James called as he ran down the stairs of his home. I cursed under my breath. I just moved in here yesterday. Meeting the alpha now wasn't my idea, but he was an alpha and so I obeyed and waited for him to catch up with me. 'You're new in town, right?' He asked. I nodded my eyes at the floor. I was in his territory without his permission, challenging him wouldn't be smart. 'When did you move here?' he asked, walking the same way I had when he called me. 'Yesterday.' I said, still not looking at him. Suddenly he stroked black lock of hair behind my eyes. 'Relax, I'm not a very mean or strict alpha, you just have to submit when demanded.' He said, before moving on, like nothing happened. He continued his third degree and asked: 'Why did you move away from your pack?' 'It wasn't safe for me there, anymore for some reason the Luna thought I was after her husband.' I said, feeling guilty for not telling him the whole truth. 'Ok, well. Welcome to Domun and the Fortes-pack.' He said.
I thanked him and sighted. 'Will you excuse me, Alpha? I'm going to be late on my first day to college.' I said now looking up to him. His green eyes sparkled and there was a little laugh around his mouth, when he said: 'Well, seeing I caused you being late. I better offer you a ride.' I blushed. 'I didn't mean to suggest..' He laughed openly, as he threw his arm around my shoulder. 'I know. Eh, you didn't mention your name yet.' He opened his car door and as I stepped in I said: 'My name is Caitlyn Morris, or Cat for my friends.' He got behind the wheel and started the car. 'My name is James Mahon, or Jim.' He said. I nodded. 'So I've heard.' It was silent for a sec, then he said: 'We need to pick up a few of my friends on the way.' I nodded again. He shot me a look and turned the radio on. It was playing one of my favourite songs ever. Viva la Vida of Coldplay. It was nearly done when James stopped in front of a house.
Two blond girls came running outside. They looked identical and waved. 'Good morning, Jimmie and friend.' They said, as they stepped in the back seat. 'Morning girls. This is Caitlyn, she's new in town. Cat, these losers are my cousins, Mandy and Randy.' He said. I waved shyly 'Good morning.' James turned the radio up so conversations were impossible. Not even five minutes later he pulled up in front of a old hostel. In front, leaning against the wall was a boy, his shaggy blond hair pulled back in a ponytail and in his ear a earring. I guessed he was going for the pirate look. Jason turned the radio down and beckoned him. He moved over to us and sat down beside the twin. 'Hi, beauty. What's your name?' He asked, one of the twins glared at him and started sulking. 'Her name is Caitlyn, Warner.' She said. 'Please, call me Cat.' I said. James smiled and drove off.
As he pulled up at the school, all heads turned to us. We got out and the twins offered to take me to the head masters chamber and show me the way. The headmaster only gave me my schedule, so I walked out of the office just to have my schedule take away by the twins. 'Hey, you have the Mathematics the first two hours, with James and Warner. Apart from that you have the same schedule as us.' one of them said. I finally asked who was who.
'Randy always wears dark colours, black, red and purple stuff like that. I always wear lighter more feminine colours as light blue, pink, white and stuff like that.' Mandy said, flinging her hair back. 'Well, hell to that. Lets get you to class, before Mr Lerp, goes insane.' Randy said grabbing my arm. 'You want to go shopping with us this afternoon? James birthday is this weekend.' I blushed and hating myself for wishing I could. 'I would love too, but I can't' I said, they sulked for a while, but quickly got over it and guided me to my class.
James was sitting in the back row, with his feet on a chair. When I walked into the classroom he sat up strait and waved at me. I walked over to him and he gestured to the seat. I sat down and got my books out. Warner walked inside the classroom and sat down beside me. I sucked at math and I mean really sucked. Mr Lerp had written a few "easy" equations on the smart board and I tried to copy them in my notes. 'No, A equals five C not two.' James said, as he grabbed my hand. I pulled my hand away and wrote the damn two down. 'That three supposed to be an eight. Can you even read the board.' Warner said. Tear filled my eyes as I looked down at my note's. 'Damn, Warner now look what you did. You made her cry.' James scolded as wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
'What's up, gorgeous. You not upset by me are you? I had a one for math last year. I was just kidding.' Warner said worried. I shook my head it wasn't his fault, I was an idiot. I always got good grates, but as soon as numbers played a part I failed. I remembered how my father looked when he heard the rapport of the doctor. 'Your daughter has dyscalculia, Alpha, sir.' The dear man had said. He had spent an hour trying to convince my father it was nothing to be ashamed of. But my father was ashamed of everything I was, so one flaw more or less didn't mean a difference. 'Cat, Baby, stop crying.' James said. I sniffed and sighted. 'I'm sorry I'm a bit oversensitive on the subject. Its fine, I'm fine.' I hated myself for my weakness and even more for crying. My father had always said that I mustn't cry. I wiped the tears from my face and tried my equals. James and Warner constantly shot me worried glances.
When it was time for lunch, they all decided to take me to their favourite restaurant. A little bar known for its spare ribs and fruit salad. James bought me a plate of both and settled us down at a table in the corner. I ate my food and joked with my new friends. It had been a long time since I had that much fun. I laughed and giggled feeling like a child again. James grinned at me and winked. Then two older man came walking in. 'Porter, Gino, What are you doing here.' James said, giving both man a firm handshake, looking pleased. 'That were the Alpha's of Jimmy's parents. They will present Jimmy's pack to him on his birthday. James parents died last summer.' Mandy whispered in my ear. 'Having a quick bite, Young Alpha.' One of the man answered. His loyalty and love for his Alpha showed in his voice. 'Come sit with us there is room enough.' James offered. The second man spoke. 'I'm sure your friends know better things to do, than babysitting two old man. I know I would have. No boy, we've got work to do anyway.' They waved goodbye and smiled friendly at me. We waved back and they left.
Seeing it was time to go back, we got our stuff together and left to. By English the assignment was to write a poem about something that had formed you. I wrote the truth and pain of my chest and not thinking I would be called forward to read it out loud. But off course I did. My legs trembled as I walked out front. Suddenly I was determined, I stood up straight and started:
Once I was happy, once I was loved
But then I was bullied and shoved
You're still the one I used to adore
But you don't love me anymore
I refuse to be scared of being seen
I refuse , so now I'm fleeing
From you and you hart of stone
Where love once must have shone
