Caitlyn POV

I smiled while I nibbled on my breakfast. A small sound told me one of the babies woke up. the soft voice was followed by a hard cry. James came walking in an picked my baby girl up, which reminded me I had to come up with names for them. He handed her to me and went to pick up our son. He stood by my bed and sighted. ‘Cathy, we need to talk.’ He said sadly. ‘What is wrong?’ I asked alarmed. He sighted again and rocked our boy in his arm. ‘Jimmie, you are scaring me.’ I said. He nodded. ‘I know, but I am scared to, Cat. Harold called. Argentums have fallen. We’re going to war tomorrow. Tomorrow, Cat. We’re not nearly ready.’ He said. I swallowed my fear and growled. ‘If Harold called us we must go. Go home and grab my stuff. We’ll leave tonight. Tell the Alpha’s to gather their packs’ I said. James nodded and placed our son in my hand and gently kissed our daughter goodbye. He left the room and I heard him talk to someone. Tears started dropping from my eyes as I looked at my newborns. What to do with them?  Should I take them with me or get a nurse?  How long would I be gone, would I come back? I feared a lot, but most off al I feared loosing. The stakes were high. My babies and brothers would be raised in a world where evil roamed. I will not stand for that.

Miranda came in and swiftly and silently changed the diapers. I fed and hugged my children. Long after they fallen asleep again, James came walking in carrying a big backpack. ‘New clothes, a hairbrush and a tent.’ He said. ‘Did you take clothes for yourself?’ He shook his head. ‘I will shift as we leave and wont shift back, but I’ll will take the clothes I’m wearing just in case.’ He said, his face grim. He did not commend on the tears that were drying up on my cheeks and I didn’t commend on the stiffness in his jaw. ‘Did you come up with names, yet?’ He asked. I sighted. ‘No, but now I have something to come back for.’ He smiled forced and said: ‘So, I’m not enough, eh?’ I grinned and grabbed his hands. ‘If you’d go down. I would’ve went down with you. But now I must take care of them.’ James nodded.

‘Promise me you will too, mate.’ I begged. James nodded and sat down at the edge of the bed.

A soft cry brought him back on his feet. Our boy needed to be changed, so James picked him up and changed his diapers. Very clumsy, but it’s the thought that counts I guess. He picked him up again and sat back down next to me. ‘What do we do with them, Jimmie?’ I asked. James frowned. ‘How do you mean?’ I nodded to our son and he frowned. ‘Mandy and Randy are coming with us, they will take care of him during the fights and protect him with their lives.’ He said. Our daughter cried, so he passed our son to me and went to pick her up. Gently rocked her in his arms and kissed her on her head. ‘I love you.’ He whispered. He sat down again and she started sniffing again. He jumped up and started pacing around the room much to my amusement.

Mandy and Randy walked in. They were carrying some sort of baby backpacks. They were especially designed to fit a wolfs and a human body, so we could keep them on while shifting. The babies would be placed in them and lie just like the would in a crib. I got up and handed my son to Randy. Mandy helped me attach the backpack and James placed our daughter in there gently. He checked the cackles four times and the put his backpack on. Randy handed him our son. We walked outside and greeted our pack. All eyes rested on the bundles that contained our children. ‘We will march.’ James said. He shifted and looked at me. I shifted with him. ‘Your father is gathering his pack.’ He said to me mentally. Mandy and Randy followed with our backpack and one off their own. James waited till all our members had shifted and looked around. He howled and started in a trotting pace. Our children cried, but I Just fed them ten minutes ago and they weren’t in pain or needed to be changed, believe me I would smell that, so we ignored them. James’ howl had awakened them and they soon fell back asleep because they were rocked while we walked. Soon our pace picked up and we ran.

About two hours later I felt our daughter shift her weight. ‘James, baby girl needs to eat.’  I said. James turned his neck to me and nodded. He gently lowered his pace as a howl came out of the bag on his stomach. Slowly we came to a stop and James ordered the pack to stay here as we walked into the bushes. We shifted and unstrapped the backpacks. James sat down behind me and helped me keep the babies to me. They fed and James changed they’re diapers as I rested against the tree. I groaned as I got up. My muscles still hurt, logically. I mean I just gave birth that morning. James helped me put the backpack on and put our boy in. He took the girl and shifted. I followed him. I trotted to the front off the pack, greeting people along the way. James waited until I came up next to his and waited. It took me a sec to realise he was waiting for me to signal the leaving. I said to stop and I would lead the take off. From the trees eyes awaited my lead. I threw my head back and howled. The vampire’s jumped down from the trees and took their places. Their skins were completely hidden, just like the demons. The demons just flowed around us like black mist keeping us hidden from human eyes. between the wolves here and there stood some out some more stranger, more ancient creatures. I broke into a sprint, but slowed down as James jaw clamped my tail. ‘Wait up, babe. Keep a decent pace.’   He said, pulling up beside me. I gently nudged his side and jogged a little ahead of him. He growled amused. ‘Hey, this isn’t a time to play games, girly.’ He said quasi- stern. I slowed my pace and sighted. ‘I know.’ James licked my face. He nuzzled our son and sighted sadly.

James

I wrinkled my nose as the scent hit me. Caitlyn slowed the pack and looked at me. ‘It’s her.’ She said. Mandy grabbed a robe one of the vamps held out. She swiftly changed and draped the robe so nothing was visible. She swiftly changed the diaper and placed the baby back. ‘Is he good?’ She asked of Cat. Cathy sniffed and nodded. Mandy took her place and handed the robe to the vampire while shifting so once again there was nothing to be seen, thankfully. I didn’t really wanted to kill my pack members for looking at my cousin. As soon as Mandy was shifted we took off.

Near dawn we finally reached the campsite. Caitlyn jogged straight to Harold as I released our pack our from their strict formations. Cathy shifted while wrapping a robe around her, while I pulled up next to her. I didn’t shift or sat down, but stood beside her. My eyes took in the campsite. There were hundreds of alpha’s and strangely enough, just as much vampires, my god why did humans still exist?

Off course I knew the answer, most vamp had their own pet who fed them in change of money of sex. Leeched even felt more or less loyal to their humans. They rarely drank from someone else, they protected their humans and cared for them until they died of old age, though they stopped feeding from them when they turned sixty. I shuttered as a dark man came walking towards Cat

My fur bristled and I growled as I eyed him. He wasn’t really black. If I had to guess I even would’ve said he didn’t even had a colour, that how pale he was. But his wore a black pants, black shirt and his hair and eyes were pitch black. He looked about forty, though he was handsome in a George Clooney way. Behind him followed twelve vamps and a human girl. Each of them was breathtaking beautiful. I cocked my head and looked at them. Cat kicked my in the side. ‘What, I’m mated not blind. Its not like you can’t see they’re beautiful’  She sighted. ‘Well yeah, I don’t want to do anything with them.’ She said. I looked at her and snorted. ‘Neither do I. Again you may have not noticed, I’m mated.’ I growled loudly as the man grabbed Cat’s hand and placed a gentle kiss on her wrist. ‘Do not worry, Alpha Wolf. Dracula does not need your mate.’ The man said to me.
