Not only was I breaking and entering, but now I was snooping AND STEALING, who am I? No, it's for Coraline's safety... what if something else is going on here and I'm the ONLY ONE that can help (though... taking her diary wasn't exactly helping her, I had to figure out what was going on)? I grabbed the diary, put it carefully in my bag, and locked the drawer, I hid the key under her mattress so she would just think she lost it. I don't think I've ever felt the need to protect someone so much before, I couldn't help but feel some sort of connection between us, like the stars aligned for us to meet, like... fate.

She needed me to do this, to figure out what was going on here. I swung my bag over my shoulder and closed all the doors and made sure nobody even noticed I was there, I walked back home eager to read this diary. I pushed to door open to our flat *CREAK* my mom stood in front of me, her arms crossed glaring down at me. I pursed my lips together and waited for her to yell at me about running off without permission. She cleared her throat violently, "darling today we are shopping for your school uniform, the Jones family has invited us to join them, get ready please and wear something NICE. Since I don't quite trust your version of a nice outfit I have picked one out myself." She looked pleased with herself and smug as ever. Gross, as if I would ever wear what she picked out for me.

I walked up the creaky floorboards to my bedroom where a tight-fitting mini flower printed red dress lay folded on my bed. No way, I wasn't going to wear it. I had to though, I slipped it on and put a green sweater over it and black leg warmers with green docs. I pulled my hair into tight french braids and put on my green sparkly butterfly necklace. It was a much better outfit now. I could tolerate it at least. I shoved the diary in my secret cupboard in the wall and shoved the doll in there too. Couldn't have my mom knowing I was stealing. But she never mentioned giving me the doll but also never asked me how I got it... Strange.

I hopped in our maroon truck in the front seat, my mom hated it when I sat in front because she wanted to listen to country and I always complained. Whatever I hated country. She got in the truck and didn't mention my outfit, technically I was wearing what she wanted me to. I just made it my style. we drove for about 2 minutes and entered a store called Linden's UNIFORMS"

My mom met up with Coraline's mom and they chatted about "they're just in their rebellious teen phase" and "finally getting a break from the kids"
