Mr. Asher went on with his lesson, I ended up doodling on the last page of my spiralled notebook.
“Test tomorrow, don’t forget guys.” I heard him say. This made me drop my pen in horror, test tomorrow on what?
I decided to raise my hand to ask, hopefully this wouldn’t tick him off. “Yes, Ms. Lexus do you have your two cents to put in?” He asked in surprise, yes, I’m one of those students, that hardly participates in class discussions. What is the point of going over something most of the class understands? They could just ask the teacher, get one on one feedback. But I did not really bother it though, class discussions gave me a chance to doodle and think.
“What’s the test on?” I asked shyly, looking at the dictator of the class but then lowered my head, as if reading notes. However my so-called ‘notes’ were covered in black ink and little pictures. Pictures that didn’t add up to the subject being taught at hand.
Mr. Asher paced over until he was in front of the row where I was located. “I knew there would be at least one student who was not paying attention,” He shook his head in disbelief.
“Anyone want to explain to Trinity what the test is about tomorrow?” The teacher asked his eyes glancing over the students, I did the same to see who was actually paying attention.
“No one? Okay, different question, who was actually paying attention?” Mr. Asher said asking the students including myself, but clearly I was exempt to the question because I was not paying attention. I looked over to my left to see Zane having a goofy grin crossing his lips, it looked like he was on the verge laughing so he placed his head on the desk, the whispered something to me, which was inaudible.
I scanned the room and saw no hands up. Can we say, sad.
“Are you guys kidding me right now? If this is the behaviour you’re going to keep up for the rest of the semester, you are all going to fail.” He said sternly.
My ears perked up, fail? The word fail does not hold a place in my vocabulary. Even though I am negative fifty percent of the time, or maybe eighty percent, does not mean I aim low and fail. It is kind of weird, I hardly fail, just barely pass when I don’t give a crap, or do really well when I actually try.
“Um, sir. Can we forget the lecture and just tell us what’s on the test tomorrow?” I said aloud in an irritated tone. I turned to see everyone nodding their heads and whispers of agreement from my fellow classmates.
“Okay, guys this what you’ll need to know…”

“So what was David annoying you about? Want me to punch him out?” Zane asked smashing his fist into his other hand. I couldn’t help but have a sly smile on my face.
It was lunch time now, Zane and I were in the cafeteria for once, it was raining outside, making today feel depressing and putting me in a sluggish/ ‘bite me’ kind of mood. We were cooped at the bottom half of the cafeteria at against the wall. We were quite a distance from the nerd playing whatever game they were obsessed with. Speaking of them, just now, the dark haired, freckled face just had a sudden outburst of excitement due to the game. I think his name is Rodney? Not so sure, though, I’ve had a couple of classes with him and that is it. He looked around to see if anyone witnessed his outburst and spotted me, his face reddened, clearly embarrassed and sat back down with his fellow mates. I cracked a tiny grin, then shook my head, switching my attention back to my conversation with Zane.
“Oh, he was oh so worried about what that man-whore guy said about him. Gosh he is such a worry wart. He cares more about what people think of him, rather than what he thinks of himself or people that actually matter to him think.” I explained, then shoved a couple of the cafeteria’s greasy French fries into my mouth. I swirled a couple in the red tomato substance, ketchup, I just love the taste. Yum.
“Well that’s dumb.” Zane stated, then tried to dig his hand into my unhealthy lunch. I swatted his hand away quickly, I looked up to see Zane having a scowl crossing his face.
“Hey!”
“Hi.” I replied with a toothy smile.
“I meant ‘hey’ as in, why the hell did you do that for!?” Zane explained, as if I didn’t understand the first time.
“I know geesh. You are supposed to ask first, not just shove your hand, which I have no idea where it has been, in my lunch.”
Zane rolled his eyes, and propped his elbow on the lunch table, “’kay fine, dearest Trinity, may I please have a couple of fries.”
“Yes you may.”
“Anyways, what did man-whore say about David, I’m dying to know.”
“Really?”
“No, I just want to be in the know, at this school, ya know?”
“Yeah sure, anyways he didn’t say much. Just said David was an ass wipe and how conceited he was. That’s it, nothing that bad.”
As if this was some television show, the cafeteria door busted open and David stormed through, he looked pretty horrible, and angry. He walked in a fast and angrily manner towards me. In a matter of seconds, David was in front of me. Remember when I said he looked horrible? Horrible is a bit of an understatement… It was clear he got punch in the face. I could see the pain shine through his eyes.
“Trinity, you did this, I told you to tell what the hell he said. But no, you wanted to be all high and mighty and blow me off. This is your fault. Gosh, I knew it was a mistake joining the bet, I mean look at me compared to you.” David rambled.
What he said hurt me, it stung. It’s not everyday, someone puts you to the blame, makes you feel like crap and on top of that thinks you are a waste of space.
I have felt like this before, when my mother died, my sister and father would blame me, making me feel like crap, which resulted in my isolating myself from the world.
Zane got up from the table and sauntered to David, “You want me match that black eye?”
“No, does this conversation involve you? No it doesn’t so you mind butting out? Thanks.” David said sarcastically, shooting Zane a fake grin along with words.
Zane looked like he was going to freak the freak out. I got up from the table too and planted myself between them. Although I was not as intimidating as I thought of in my head, for one I am kind of short, and not intimidating.
“Zane, just don’t he’s seriously not worth it.” I said quietly to Zane, and then faced David. “Is it really my fault, that you’re not comfortable with your sexuality? Is it my fault that you care about what people think of you, rather than people that matter? No it’s your fault, don’t you dare blame me for things that you brought onto yourself. Yeah sure I will admit me not telling you was kind of wrong on my part. As for you getting in on the bet, once again you did this to yourself. So suck it up and take blame for it, like what you said, look at you compared to me, do you think it would ever work out, hell no. Because after seeing a couple of layers of your personality, I found out I highly detest people like you, shallow, ignorant, and most of all, a person that can’t accept who they are. I honestly can’t believe I ever liked you in middle school, boy was I naïve!” I stated and ended with relief.
“Know what Trinity, you’re a bitch.” David said.
“You know I’m right, don’t deny it.” I replied, which caused David to storm back out of the cafeteria.
“Hey guys, did you hear all of that?” I called up to the academically gifted group of guys. Notice how I used a different term rather than nerds?
“Bits and pieces.”
“Not much.”
“Wasn’t paying attention.”
I got a bunch of replies, which made me sigh in relief; hopefully our little drama show wasn’t as loud.
“You know Trinity, I love you.” Zane randomly said while I threw my garbage from my lunch in the garbage.
“Uh, w-what?”
“As a friend, calm down. Like what you said to David was entirely true. Seriously you’re a great person.”
“Oh, okay, good. And trust I’m not the least bit great. I am the type that likes revenge, speaking of revenge; we have to go to the store after school, because I have someone to care of.” I smirked. Truthfully, I wouldn’t mind if Zane loved me, I mean he’s unexplainable!
“Wait, you said ‘oh, okay, good.’ does that mean it’s good I don’t love you?” Zane questioned, an eyebrow arched. To other people looking I think we would look pretty odd, because we were standing beside a garbage can talking.
“Um yeah, that’s what I said. But um, I never meant for it to come out like that. It’s just uh, caught me a bit of guard. Although I wouldn’t mind it…” I answered, stumbling on my words while doing so.
“So you want me to love you, more than a friend?”
“Umm…”
“Would you love me back? I hate when I fall for someone and they don’t feel the same way.”
“Wait- what?”
“So were going out now, right? I’ll pick you up at seven tonight for our date okay?”
“Hold up, what the heck is going on?”
“We’re dating now silly,” Zane said, in a matter-of-fact way, while grabbing my hand.
“Huh?” I replied pulling my hand away from his warm hand. I was at a lost.
“Is this your way of breaking up with me?” Zane said slowly, a face of sadness and sorrow crossed his face.
“You’ve officially gone crazy Zane.” I said rolling my eyes.
“You love me, don’t worry. I just love teasing you, your face, priceless. Should’ve snapped a photo.” He said then pulled me in a for a hug.
“You keep thinking that sweetheart.” I said while patting his shoulder.
“Aww, we have couple names! You’re tiggly wiggly, love it?”
“Oh my gosh, stop, tiggly wiggly, hell no.”
“Okay, but just so you know sweetheart is unoriginal, you have a brain use it missy.” He said playfully as we made our way out of the cafeteria.
“Um…Zaney boo?” I asked in an uncertain tone.
“Sounds embarrassing, but I’ll deal, just for you.”
“Don’t you think we’d make cute babies?” Zane wondered while draping an arm over my shoulder.
“Oh my.”
“Oh my, I know. I could picture them already Ned and Dolly.”
“Eww, what kind of names are those, seriously do you want the kid to be bullied, Dolly come on. What makes you think I like you like that anyway?”
“It’s so damn obvious.” Zane said with his smouldering brown eyes staring at me.
“Nothing is obvious, because I don’t like you, like that.” I said as we ascended up the stairs. I do like him, well maybe a teeny tiny bit. Like a pinch.
“You think I’m attractive?”
“A little. But don’t let that get your head.”
“Oh it already has tiggly wiggly. Just so you know I think you’re really attractive.” He said with a smirk
“Let’s stay friends yeah? Because this awkward.”
“I’m teasing you, it’s just too fun.”
“Well you mind stopping.”
“Nope.”
“Don’t make me hurt you,” I said getting closer him, my fist up.
“Oh, because I’m scared of a girl.” Zane said scared his mouth ajar and his hands held up in surrender.
“I kick ass okay.” I retaliated.
*RING*
“Sure you do, meet me at my locker after school so we can’t go to the store.” Zane called as he began walking to his class.
“My locker is so close to yours dumbass.” I said, then found out he was gone, so I was talking to myself… Awkward. I then got a move on and shoved my way through the crowds of people to my class.
