The bell finally rung, I groaned. A couple of students were squeezing their way through the doorway, as the teacher closed the door.
"Good morning." Mr. Asher grumbled, fixing his shirt and walking towards the board. He began talking in a monotone as always. I grabbed my science notes from my bag and began to study. Looking up once in a while to see if Mr. Asher saw me studying while he was talking. He didn't.
In more ways than others, being invisible in class is very good. They assume you know what you're doing. They don't pay much attention and don't give a crap what you do.
I had to drown out this lesson, it's killing. All Mr. Asher was doing was going over what was expected for our test next week. Grabbing my iPod I quickly played a song, drowning out the voice and making me focus on studying for science.
A couple of minutes ticked by, I was suddenly more confident about the test. Thanks to this class and the opportunity to cram once again.
"Ms. Lenix?" I heard someone call, ignoring the first call of my name I studied so more. The second time I looked up, Mr. Asher and our vice principal were staring at me and so was everyone else, little smirks covering their faces.
"Oh sorry, I thought I should get a move on for the test Friday so I just put on inspirational music. Sorry sirs." I lied perfectly with an embarrassed smile at the end. I quickly turned down the music and put my notes in my bag, giving the two in authority my full attention.
They both stared at me for a moment and then Mr. Rocky went back to talking about a new student. It all makes sense... But who knew this student would be in my class?
"Young man, come in now." Mr. Rocky said ushering the new student to enter the scene.
I looked down for a second, getting bored , as my eyes flickered back to the scene. I saw the new student, it was Zane.
WHAT?
My jaw dropped as I took in what was happening. I thought Zane was like a couple years older and was in college but high school, new student, my class? This was such a surprise...
Zane's eyes were suddenly on me, he gave a quick grin as if still amused by my being. And then focused on what Mr. Rocky and Mr. Asher were saying.
"Students, this your new class mate, Zane." Mr Asher said grabbing Zane's shoulders. Zane's expression suddenly gone from amused to what the fuck is going on? I laughed just like everyone else.
