New Year's Eve came and went and soon January 9th came around. It seemed like any other normal day until I heard Lily speaking with Severus in the courtyard.
"Happy birthday, Severus!" she exclaimed, embracing him. I quickly turned to Severus and he put his head down.
"It's your birthday!? Why didn't you tell me?" I asked as his face began to turn red.
"It's not a big deal..." he whispered.
"Sev, the day you were born is a huge deal to Lily and I!" I watched his face light up as he looked up at Lily and I. Words seemed to fail him as he locked eyes with me, blushing.
"Come on! It's a Saturday! We have to celebrate! What do you want to do for your birthday?"
"Uhm... I don't know... I've never really thought about it. We could hang out..." he replied, looking down.
"Come on," I said, pulling him up. I ran across the courtyard, dragging Severus and Lily behind me.
"Where are we going?" Lily giggled, running behind me.
"Just somewhere," I laughed. We ran through the empty corridors, laughing as I pulled them to Professor Mcgonagall's office. I knocked on the door and heard a soft rustling of papers before the door swung open, revealing a confused Professor Mcgonagall. She looked down and when her eyes met mine, a smile spread across her face.
"Y/n! How lovely to see you, dear. What can I do for you? She looks at Lily and Severus, concern crossing her features. "Ms. Evans, Mr. Snape? Is everything alright? What are you three doing here? Come in, please." She gestures us inside and closes the door behind us.
"Hello, professor. I was just wondering if the kitchen could make something special for a friend of mine. It's his birthday and I didn't know until just a few minutes ago. I was wondering if we could borrow a house elf..."
"Whose birthday is it, dear?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with delight. I can see Severus's face turn bright red and look down.
"Severus's. I didn't know until just a few minutes ago and I want to do something for him," I responded, pulling Severus into a hug. He wrapped his arms around my frame and buried his face in my hair. I giggled as Professor Mcgonagall beamed at us.
"Of course, dear. Mr. Snape, why don't you go with Ms. Evans and Y/n and I will work something out," she said, ushering them out the door as Severus let go of me.
A few hours later, a wonderful house elf had made a cake for Severus and we were sitting in the kitchen with Professor Mcgonagall. Lily brought Severus into the kitchen, her hands covering his eyes. As soon as they entered the kitchen, Professor Mcgonagall, Lily, and I started singing Happy Birthday to him. Once again, his face turned bright red as Lily removed her hands from his eyes. I watched as a single tear fell from his eye and he blew out the candles. Mcgonagall beamed and pulled the three of us into a hug.
"Thank you, Y/n," Severus said as he pulled me into a hug. His chin rested on top of my head as Lily beamed at the two of us.
"Let's eat!" Mcgonagall laughed as the house elf began cutting the cake.
"This is the best birthday I've ever had," Severus whispered into my hair. I squeezed him tighter and cake was set in front of us.
"I'm glad, Sev. You deserve the world," I responded, slowly pulling away from the hug.
"As do you, Y/n... You deserve the world and more." He brushed my cheek with his thumb and we sat down to eat.
