The end of term arrived and I was dreading the return home. I sat in my dormitory packing my belongings when I heard a knock. I paused my packing and moved to open the door. Lily stood outside my door and her eyes brightened as they met mine.

"Y/n!" she exclaimed, pulling me into a hug.

"What are you doing here, Lily?"

"I've missed you, and... the guys want to talk to you. They sent me to find you because they can't enter the girls' dormitory." I sighed and nodded before walking with her to the Gryffindor common room. As soon as I entered the common room Remus ran to me, pulling me into a hug.

"How are you?"

"I'm fine, you?"

"I'm fine." He moves closer, whispering in my ear. "The full moons have been a bitch but other than that I'm great." I nod, smiling at him, before turning my attention to the other three in the room. James, Peter, and Sirius were staring at me and we took a seat on the couches, Remus and Lily next to me, while James, Peter, and Sirius sat across from us.

"Y/n... we owe you an apology," James began. "We never should've tried to tell you who to spend time with. It's just that... we're worried about you, Y/n. We barely see you and when we do... you're cuddling Snape... it's weird, Y/n."

"Look, Severus and I get each other. We are just friends but we understand each other. I-... I don't know how to explain it, James. We just... we understand each other and sometimes we don't even have to talk... we can just sit. I've never had that before... with anyone. He makes me feel safe and I... I really need that right now. I need him in my life, James. I wish you could understand that."

"I can't understand it... Y/n. I- I don't understand how you can be friends with him," he replies. My anger grows as the words leave his lips.

"Are you here to apologize or to convince me I shouldn't be friends with him?" I asked, my voice dripping in anger.

"You're right... I'm sorry, Y/n. Just... be careful, Okay?" I nodded as James pulled me into a hug. He let go as Sirius began to speak.

"We just want what's best for you and we miss you, Y/n," he says as he stands to pull into a hug. His head rests against my shoulder and I can feel his heart racing. One hand gently rubs my back while the other plays with my hair.

"I've missed you, Y/n," he whispers in my ear.

"I've missed you too, Sirius."
