"When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up.Our answers were things like astronaut, president, or, in my case, a princess." Beau looked over at Angela, who was already looking at him and grabbed her hand, placing a small gentle kiss on her knuckles before turning his attention back to Jessica. "When we were ten, they asked again. We answered rock star, cowboy, or, in my case, a gold medalist. But now that we've grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how about this? Who the hell knows?'" The audience clapped before Jessica continued her speech. "This isn't the time to make hard and fast decisions. This is the time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere. Fall in love a lot. Major in philosophy, because there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind, and change it again, because nothing's permanent."
"So make as many mistakes as you can."
Beau walked across the stage, shaking the principles hand before walking off, Angela going next. She had a wide smile, as she walked off the stage, taking her seat beside Beau who had a wide smile, as he looked at her. The two smiled at each other before they turned their attention back to the stage, where it was Bella's turn to go, and Beau was surprised she didn't trip and fall.
"That way, someday, when they ask what we want to be, we won't have to guess, we'll know."
Beau wrapped his arms around Angela's waist from behind, Jessica rolling her eyes at him. "Did I ever tell you how pretty you look in dresses?" Beau whispered to Angela, kissing her cheek before his happy mood disappeared at the sight of Jacob, Quil, and Embry walking into the party. Beau watched as Alice stopped walking on the stairs, Beau letting go of Angela. "Go have fun with Jessica." Angela looked confused before she realized that Alice was having a vision and that Beau would tell her later.
Beau reached out to Alice who grabbed his forearm, Beau now seeing the same thing she was, the missing boy, Riley, passing around a blouse that belonged to Bella. Something that caught Beau off guard was a hoodie being tossed towards the newborns, his hoodie. Drenched in Angela's perfume. The two snapped out of it, Bella walking over to the two. "What'd you see?"
"The decision's been made," Alice said, Angela walking over to the two, Beau wrapping an arm around her waist as Jacob and his small pack of dogs walked over.
"What's going on?" He asked, Beau moving himself closer to Angela.
"You're not going to Seattle," Bella said knowingly.
Alice shook her head. "No. They're coming here."
"They'll be here in four days," Alice told Carlisle, Beau standing behind Angela, not liking Jacob, Quil, and Embry's presence.
"This could turn into a bloodbath," Carlisle stated the obvious.
"Who's behind it?" Edward asked.
"I didn't see anyone I recognized," Alice told him.
Beau took a moment to think. "That missing kid, Riley or whatever his name is."
"Riley Biers. He didn't start this."
"Whoever did is staying out of the action. They're playing with the blind spots in Alice's visions." Beau said, Angela grabbing his hand. Beau gently squeezed it in reassurance.
"Either way, the army is coming and there aren't enough of us to protect the town," Jasper said, Jacob looking around confused.
"Hold up. What damn army?" He asked.
"Newborns. Our kind." Carlisle answered.
"What are they after?" Embry asked.
"They were passing around Bella's scent. A red blouse." Alice said.
"Not just Bella's scent." Beau spoke up. "They had one of my hoodie's, one that Angela has had since we've been together."
"They're after Bella? What the hell does this mean?" Jacob asked, Beau rolling his eyes.
"They aren't just after Bella." Beau told him harshly. "She's after Angela too." Angela looked at Beau, nuzzling into his side.
"She?" Jacob questioned.
"It means an ugly fight. With lives lost." Carlisle told him, answering the earlier question.
Jacob turned to share a look with both Quil and Embry. "All right. We're in."
"No. You'd get yourselves killed. No way." Bella shook her head.
Beau scoffed. "And we won't get ourselves killed? Do you know how hard it is to kill our kind? It's like fighting a concrete statue."
Jacob grimaced before he spoke. "I hate to say it, but he's right. They need the help. And I wasn't asking for permission." Beau smiled triumphantly at Bella, who turned to Edward.
"Edward?" She questioned.
"It means more protection for you." He answered, not seeming to like the idea any more than Jacob did. "And Angela now."
"Jacob, do you believe Sam would agree to an understanding?" Carlisle asked.
"As long as we get to kill some vampires."
"Jasper?"
"They'll give us the numbers. Newborns won't know they even exist. That'll give us an edge." Jasper stated. Forever a soldier, Beau thought.
"We'll need to coordinate," Carlisle said, standing up from the table he was sitting on.
Bella stood up as well, Beau rolling his eyes. "Carlisle, they're gonna get hurt."
"We can all get hurt! And it's not just about you anymore!" Beau snapped, Carlisle cutting in.
"We'll all need some training. Fighting newborns requires the knowledge that Jasper has. You're welcome to join us." Beau let go of Angela and walked back into the party, Angela shaking her head in disappointment at the way Beau's family practically ignored him, before following after him, bumping shoulders with Bella as she passed her.
