Chapter 1

A soft tingling brush across Fiora's full lips caused her to stir awake. Blinking slowly Rafael swam into her vision.

"Good Morning."

His velvety voice caressed her face.

"Good morning..."

Her lips titled in a sleepy smile as she observed the man hovering over her. He was the most infuriating, annoying, and devilish man she had ever met...and she was madly in love with him.

He reached out and tenderly brushed a loose curl off of her forehead and tucked it behind her ear lovingly.

"I was curious...are you doing anything today?....Have any plans?" He trailed off as his lips twitched trying to control a surfacing grin.

Fiora thought lazily about her plans before shaking her head "no."

"Well if you're not busy perhaps you wouldn't mind meeting me at the altar this afternoon." Rafael bit his bottom lip seductively.

Groaning in remembrance that today was her wedding day she pulled the covers over her head. It's not that she didn't want to marry the handsome devil that was practically straddling her at the moment...she was just nervous about the whole thing.

Nervous that the entire kingdom was invited...the entire kingdom was going to be staring at her. Frankly she hated the attention but it was all going to be worth it.

"Isn't it bad luck to see your bride before the wedding?" Fiora moodily mumbled beneath the covers.

"I couldn't stand the thought of you alone in this cold room all alone any longer..."

She felt his weight shift and surprisingly his lips met hers through the thin silken sheet. Heat surged through her body and she arched to meet his broad chest.

"What's this now?!"

A shrill cry sounded from the doorway making them both jump. Fiora stuck her head out from the sheet to see Erickson's mother standing in the doorway.

A deep chuckle rumbled in Rafael's chest as he moved off the bed.

"You should know better King Rafael! Seeing your bride before your wedding!" The plump fiery haired woman waddled into the room.

"I was hoping to do a little more than see her..."

Fiora's cheeks burned in embarrassment at his seductive remark.

"Out! Out!  You devil!" Suzan shooed Rafael out of the room but not before he placed a playful peck on her freckled cheek

"Take care of my bride." He smiled down at her.

Suzan gave him a stern look as he blew Fiora a kiss and departed.

"Honestly, it's like a moth to flame with that man..." She shook her head disapprovingly.

Quickly she moved about the room opening the curtains and picking up loose articles of clothing.

"What would you like to have this morning? Soup? Eggs? I'll have the chef prepare anything you'd like!" She was always so eager to feed Fiora, always claiming she was far too thin.

"I don't think I can stomach anything..." Nerves always got to her stomach first.

"You must eat my dear! Can't have you passing out at the altar." She tsked and left the room momentarily before returning with a tray full of assorted breakfast foods.

"Eat." She ordered placing the tray next to Fiora on the bed.

"Suzan?" She ventured trying to keep her nausea in check.

"Yes dear?"

"Were you nervous on your wedding day?" The question came out more shakily than she intended.

Suzan paused in her cleaning to sidle up to the large four-poster bed. "Of course I was nervous, It was an arranged marriage after all...I even tried to make a run for it." She let out a hearty chuckle making her large breasts heave up and down.

"You were that nervous?!" Fiora exclaimed in disbelief.

"Aye. I almost made it out of the city too before my Thomas, my late husband, found me. He  never said anything when he found me....he just kissed me. One kiss, filled with strength and reassurance. After that I knew, I knew everything would turn out alright." Suzan placed a comforting hand on Fiora's small shoulder. "And it did...28 years of blissful marriage."

"You've nothing to worry about. I've known Rafael since he was a small boy, he's a good man and he'll take care of you. Marriage has it's ups and downs but you two have got love and when it comes down to it...that's all it takes." She placed a brief kiss on her forehead before standing up.

"Thank you Suzan." Fiora's worries were dashed aside for the moment and instead replaced with hope and joy for her future.

Her heart swelled with love at the thought of Rafael, her soon to be husband.
