Ellie woke up and realized she was back in her room at her grandmas house. She turned around and saw Chris sleeping. She got up slowly and made her way to the bathroom and showered. Once she was done, Chris was still asleep. She tiptoed her way towards her closet and grabbed an oversized shirt and her undies and got dressed, she put her hair up in a messy bun and walked back to bed to lay down.
'Chris...' Ellie whispered.
Chris slowly opened his eyes and smiled, 'Hey...' He whispered.
'uhm...' Ellie blushed, then smiled.
Chris put a hand on her face and pulled her in for a kiss. Ellie kissed back but pulled away suddenly.
'Is there something wrong?' Chris asked as the smile fades away from his face.
She shook her head, 'nothing's wrong. I just...' She sighed, 'I just want to say thank you.'
'For what?' Chris stroke her cheek gently.
'For being so understanding.'
'You don't have to thank me.' Chris planted a kiss on her forehead. 'I do have a question though.' He propped himself up on his elbow as Ellie scooted closer to him.
'What is it?'
'Why did you end up two hours away from home? I'm just curious.' Chris half smiled.
Ellie closed her eyes, 'It was Sebastian's death anniversary yesterday. Erik and I had a talk and he made me realize that I need to face my fears and reality...' She opened her eyes and sighed, 'I was just going to drive around but remembered the date. I didn't mean to go to his mom's house, I was just wanting to go to the cemetery to pay my respect. But I found myself ringing their doorbell.' She started crying and he pulled her to him and let her rest on his chest. All Chris can do was to hold her and console her. 'Christopher...' She whispered as he played with her hair.
'Yes, sweetheart?'
'I love you.' She whispered it so low so Chris wouldn't be able to hear it.
'What was that?' Chris has a huge grin on his face.
'Nothing.' Ellie buried her face on his chest but he gently forced her up and they both sat down facing each other.
'Say it again, I didn't hear it clearly.' Chris held her hand.
'I love you...' Ellie repeated while staring into his eyes.
'What was that?' Chris asked teasing her.
'I said I love you. I swear, make me repeat that again and I'll take it back.' Ellie smiled as Chris hugged her.
'Who are you and what did you do to my Ellie Sage?' Chris smiled and kissed her. 'I love you, more than anything in this universe.'
'Eeewww, stop the mush.' Ellie laughed and got up. She walked over to where Sebastian's backpack was and took it to her closet. She stood there just hugging the bag and his jacket, crying quietly.
Chris followed her and saw her, 'Baby, it's alright.' He walked behind her and hugged her.
'I miss him. I still miss him. I miss him more and more each day still.'
'And that's okay. Your feelings are valid. And if you think that's unfair to me, think again.' Chris helped her put Sebastian's stuff in a safe place.
'I don't want to open that just yet.' Ellie backed up to Chris and he held her.
'That's fine. Take it slow. Baby steps.' Chris smiled.
Little did Ellie know, Sandra also handed a letter to Chris secretly before they left her house.
