[XHJAFFFFALSJ WAIT I GOT VOTED FOR AGAIN?? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!]
The sun rises on an early fall morning. It was a day like most others for Sunny, except. Today. He has to face the fears of school. He promised Kel he would go and despite being a little upset still, he'd still make that effort. If it didn't work out, home school was still an option of course. Sunny got up and stretched before making his way to the closet. "Hmmm..." he just looked for a while before pulling out his usual shorts and button-up. This time pairing it with one of Mari's old cardigans. She'd be proud of him. Sunny walked down the stairs and looked at his mom who was at the table eating breakfast. She looked at him with the widest smile ever "Aww Sunny..." She got up to hug him before continuing "Mommy is so proud of you Sunny. Go out there and do great things." A few tears grew and ran down her face before she handed him his backpack and he started to school.
It took him a while to get there by foot but it was nice. The morning dew on the grass-covered the bottoms of his sneakers as he stepped into the building. Basil saw him and waved before running on over "Sunny! you're going to the school building this year?" Basil asked. The blonde boy was wearing some overalls and a green shirt. It was simple but he looked nice. "Yeah...I thought I'd try something new this year.." He smiled a bit before going quiet and looking at the people around him. All chatting with their friends. It wasn't long before he spotted Kel with a group of his friends. They all seemed rather strong and athletic, unlike the raven-haired boy.
Sunny stared for a while before Kel saw him and joyfully waved and motioned for Sunny to come over. He hesitated at first but walked over and carefully took place behind Kel's back. "Boys, this is Sunny. The person I've been telling you about!" Kel said before looking at the boys once again "That's Sunny? I thought it would be a girl Kel-" One of them said before getting nudged in the arm by another friend's elbow. "No no no. That's delightful! It's nice to meet the famous Sunny we hear so much about." the other said before giving a small smile.
Kel gave a look to the boys before turning around to look at Sunny "Hey hey hey- It's all gonna be okay Sunshine. Here just." Kel grabbed Sunny's hand and held it "I'm sorry about what happened at the spot last week but it'll all be okay. We should have a few classes together so don't worry a bit." Kel smiled at Sunny in an attempt to calm him down. It worked. Sunny nodded a bit and muttered something too hard to understand but it sounded nice and sweet so Kel just smiled and waved to the boys before taking Sunny to class.The boys got through their first classes before they got to lunch. Sunny's mom packed him lunch while Kel bought one and had Sunny sit with him at the table with the more athletic kids. Sunny finished his lunch a little early and felt rather anxious around the boys. After all. He had never met them in his life and hadn't even been around that many people in a while. Sunny quietly tapped the table to calm down. Kel noticed first and yet again took one of Sunny's hands in his own before looking at him "You alright? we can go out into the hallway for a moment if you'd like." Kel said pulling Sunny a bit closer to him as to protect him in some way. Sunny just shook his head and stayed there a moment before the boys looked at Kel and grinned. What do they know that Sunny doesn't??
The boys finished their lunch and ended up getting through school together. It was like this almost every day for weeks on end. That is until...
[tw for bulling ahead, nothing too bad but I myself have bad experiences and think it's good to notify you all first}
"Oh stop whining you freak! You don't show up at school for years and automatically think you can fit in here! Don't even think about it" A taller girl said before pushing Sunny to the floor. The one time he's late to class something like this happens of course. It all felt like some cheesy coming-of-age high school movie honestly. The girl looked down at him and smiled "You don't fit in. Got that? You shouldn't be so chummy with the basketball kids too. My friends like them and none of them would like you. Got that you freak-" She said before getting interrupted by Kel. He had gotten worried when Sunny was late for class so he went to look for him. But out of all things that could happen he was not expecting that. The girl looked at Kel "This isn't what it looks like I-" But before she could finish the brown-haired boy interrupted her again "Save it and leave Sunny alone." Kel grabbed Sunny's hand and used his other hand to lift Sunny's chin slightly when he got up.
A black eye. Just there on Sunny's right eye. Kel made sure the raven-haired boy was okay before he dealt with her. Not physically or with threats but simply with talking "Now you leave him alone ya hear me!" Kel said before she quietly nodded and walked off. Kel went right back to Sunny and looked at him with a smile. "I'm sorry I didn't take you to class today Sunny...I don't know what I was expecting from these judgmental kids..." Sunny nodded before returning to his thoughts a moment. This is a Cheesy coming-of-age high school movie.
And hopefully, it's a romance.
