He wants to show me something? That's interesting, though I still feel bad about running away like that.

"Won't your parents be angry we just left?" I ask worriedly as Kaden leads me upstairs.

"Of course they won't. Besides, my dad saw us so they know we left. And I have a feeling that my grandparents have something serious to discuss with mom and dad, so it's better to leave them alone." Kaden explains with a smile, leaning down to give me a quick peck. If he keeps doing things like this, I'll definitely get a heart attack.

Kaden, being the gentleman he is, opens the door for me and lets me walk inside his room first. I'm quite shocked by how bright the room is. I honestly expected dark walls, a bunch of posters hanging everywhere and a mess on the floor. But this is nothing like I anticipated. Everything is so neat I'm afraid to walk around in my boots. The walls are painted a pretty pastel beige, the one behind the bed a few tones darker to create a nice contrast with the golden headboard. Every piece of furniture is pure white with gold accents, like knobs or decorative details, and there is absolutely nothing on them. Everything is kept clean and pristine, which is a huge difference from what I got used to while living with Wanda and Fred.

"I didn't peg you for a beige type of guy." I joke, enjoying the cute bashful look on Kaden's face as he goes to one of the cabinets and grabs something.

"I don't really like dark places. It... brings back memories." Did I imagine it or did his voice break?

"Come here, my little fairy." Kaden takes my hand again and pulls me to his bed, where he sits against the headboard with his legs outstretched. I don't want to get the sheets dirty, so I quickly take off my boots and carefully climb onto the tall bed before sitting beside my boyfriend. "No, not there." I hear Kaden mutter sternly before I'm swiftly repositioned between his legs. I'll never admit it out loud, but the warmth from Kaden's chest that seeps into my back is so soothing I actually don't want to let go of it. It's so nice.

"What is this?" I point at the big album lying next to us.

"I know mom told you about her abilities, well at least one of them... And... how do I say it? You see, my parents believe in clarity, they are convinced that absolute honesty is the most important thing in a relationship. After watching them for years, I believe so too. That's why I don't want to keep any secrets from you or hide anything."

"I'm not sure I understand..."

"I want to show you who I am, who I was, and why I am the way I am." Kaden states, leaning his chin on my shoulder as his buff arms engulf my small body in a tight embrace. I don't miss how vulnerable he sounds and I'm not sure if it's because he's afraid of showing me everything or because he's scared of my reaction to it. All I can tell is that he's awfully anxious and I don't want him to be.

"I like who you are, I don't care who you were before and I already know why you're the way you are. You don't have anything to worry about." I tell Kaden quietly and turn my head slightly to press a small kiss to his cheek, earning a sweet smile in response before he returns the gesture.

"Still, I want to show you this. Since mom told you about her power, I think it's best to let you know about our family's secret." Kaden pecks my cheek a few times then opens the album, peeking at it over my shoulder. Is he going to stay like this? Not that I mind, but he'll be uncomfortable if he stays hunched over me.

The first picture Kaden shows me is a family photo taken in front of some cabin by the lake. "This was taken few months ago." Then he shows me another picture, taken in the exact same spot. What instantly catches my attention is the little boy standing next to the Knights who look exactly like in the first picture. "This... was taken eight years ago, soon after I got adopted." Kaden reveals, making me whip my head at him in shock.
