Faye
Fred wasn't lying. He really is in trouble. I can tell that much by the sight of Wanda's apartment building in flames. The reporter says that the police came to the conclusion it was deliberately set on fire, and there were thankfully no casualties, but what worries me the most is the mere fact that someone could burn he whole building just to make a point.
Kaden was right. Whoever Fred crossed might come after me. If they found out where Fred and Wanda lived, they might already know where I am as well.
Damn it.
"Shit this is bad," Kaden groans, watching the news with a harsh scowl. If he thinks it's bad then I'm doomed.
Double damn it.
"That's why I wanted you guys to see it," Gio frowns dejectedly. "Isn't that the place Faye used to live at? And considering what that Fred guy said earlier, it seems the people after him are already here."
"Shit, and we don't even know who it is yet," Kaden mutters angrily, going over to the sofa and plopping down on it with a loud sigh. "If they know where Fred lived, then they definitely know about you," he glances at me in despair before burying his face in his hands then ruffling his hair roughly.
"Maybe they don't..." I trail off. I know I'm grasping on straws here, but I don't want to succumb to the helplessness that threatens to swallow me. I'm aware of how bad this situation is, I really do, but falling into sorrow won't help us.
"Come here, my fairy." Kaden reaches out to me desperately and I rush to him, only to get pulled onto his lap and engulfed in his embrace. He's shaking. Is he that scared for me?
"What do we do now?" Gio sits on the couch opposite to us with a concerned frown.
For the longest moment, Kaden says nothing, then sighs heavily. "My parents and the Kingstons won't be back until the evening at least and I don't want to call them and make them worry while they're busy. For now we'll be okay, since we have great security here, but if you want, I can call Dexter or Ripper and ask them to keep watch on the house."
"I don't think we need to trouble them," I argue. "They probably have more important things to do."
"Trust me, they wouldn't say no. After I'm finished with my studies, dad will hand the company over to me, so technically I'm their future boss," Kaden shrugs offhandedly then rests his head on my shoulder, keeping me caged against his chest. I can tell he's bothered by the idea that the men Fred crossed may come for me and he's trying to come up with a solution. He's so protective of me it actually makes me feel bad for putting him in this troublesome situation.
"Well, today is not a problem, because we're all home, but what about tomorrow? Or the day after tomorrow? Are we going to skip school and hide here from the possible threat?" Gio, you're not helping.
"I don't know yet," Kaden sighs sadly. "I'll have to talk to my parents about this. They might come up with a way to find out who Fred messed with and deal with them."
Triple damn it. I did not want to bother the Knights with my issues. Well, technically they're not even my issues but Fred's. However, the idiotic alcoholic decided to drag me into this by seeking me out at school.
Call me paranoid, but I'm pretty sure tomorrow won't be peaceful.
Kaden decides he needs to think about this whole thing in peace and goes to the gym to train, saying he does his best thinking when he's working out; Gio mentions that he has a meeting with his online game community or something and goes upstairs to his room, so I'm left all alone.
