FayeHe's kidding, right? There's no way he's serious. What is that even supposed to mean? 'When we find a woman we want, we don't give her up no matter what'? What is that? Does he mean that since we're a couple now - at least I think we are - he won't let me leave? That's a bit obsessive...
I don't mind, though.
I don't think there's better reassurance than what he said.
"Do you mean it?" I ask bravely, finally showing Kaden my vulnerability. If he says something like 'I'm joking', I won't be able to take it.
"Of course I do. I don't joke about something so serious, Faye."
"You make it sound like it's some... grave matter."
"It is. At least to me." Kaden murmurs softly, leaning over to press his lips to my forehead. He's so touchy! How will I survive?! "Let's get that ice cream, shall we?" He teases, giving me a quick peck on the cheek before getting out of the car, leaving me utterly dumbfounded and flustered. Holy crap, I did not think this through.
I had no idea that being Kaden's girlfriend would mean getting touched and kissed so often. I honestly thought he'd take it slow.
Looks like I was mistaken, but I can't complain. I like it.
Kaden, being the gentleman he is, doesn't even let me ponder over my new role and quickly rounds the car to open the door for me, holding out his hand for me to grab. I hesitate for a moment before taking it, once again surprised by the warmth that spreads through me as soon as our skin touches. "I should probably get a different car." Kaden chuckles as I jump out of his truck.
"Why?"
"So my girlfriend doesn't have to risk breaking her ankles every time she jumps out of it." He smirks, sending me a cheeky wink. He's making fun of me!
"And who said I'll get in your car again?!" I argue boldly with a snarl, even though I'm sure I look ridiculous compared to this hunk of a man.
"Don't even joke about it, Faye. - Kaden frowns, clearly displeased - I'm not going to force you into anything, I respect you too much to do that, but don't expect me to sit still and do nothing for you." Something tells me I might've hurt him. Already.
"I was just kidding, Kaden. - I assure him with a small smile - I like your car and I like it when you take me to school and other places."
"Faye, don't tease me like that. - he sighs heavily as we slowly walk to the ice cream parlor - It's not that I'm trying to control you, but I'd rather have you near me. I'm a possessive man, little fairy, and I love it when you're with me. I don't want to give it up. Though, if you tell me I'm... suffocating you, I'll respect that." He breathes out shakily, seemingly feeling uncomfortable by the mere thought of not being with me. Am I reading too deeply into this or is he really this insecure?
"I don't mind you being suffocating. - I chuckle softly, squeezing his big hand reassuringly - I'm more worried that my awkwardness will drive you away. I'm not exactly... experienced when it comes to relationships."
"And that's what I find endearing." Kaden smiles, suddenly in much better mood. He seems to like hearing that I've never had a boyfriend. It's... cute, I have to admit. He's like a puppy.
Since Kaden doesn't go further into that, I decide to not do it either and simply walk with him to get my ice cream. I've been craving some since morning and I'm finally getting it.
"And what would my little fairy like to eat?" Kaden asks with a sweet smile once we're at the counter. Damn it, now that we're here, I have no idea which flavor I want!
