Kazuha sighs softly as the sky behind him fades from orange to a deep ruby. "Ah, it seems I have not properly introduced myself, have I?"
"It seems so." You reply with a hint of sarcasm.
He gives you a small smile. "I am a wandering samurai, well-versed in both literary and martial traditions." You sit on one of the bigger boxes as he continues.
"While I do not wish to flaunt my martial prowess, I myself have witnessed the techniques of many reputable and seasoned fighters. And, rega rding your earlier statement..."
Kazuha puts a hand to his chin, thinking. "Well, the midday sun has a way of making one yearn for a moment of sleep, so let's say we find a place to rest while I explain." he suggests, gesturing towards a small shady patch of trees, one of which has conveniently fallen to the ground.
You nod, and follow Kazuha over to sit on the wooden log.
You look over at him with curiosity in your voice. "So by earlier statement, do you mean me asking about you sensing danger?"
Kazuha gazes at the leaves on the surrounding maple trees. "Indeed. Since a young age, I have always been attuned to the tidings of nature. I hear the breath of the wind, and the whispers of the leaves. It is things of this nature that I also hear within you."
"Me?" you scoff. "You must be mistaken. You're probably confusing me with that other mysterious traveler and their talking pet that keep showing up everywhere."
"Oh, you've met the Traveler? Interesting..." Kazuha becomes quiet, as if lost in thought for a moment.
"Now that I am considering it, you and the Traveler share surprising similarities. I imagine you would get along quite nicely."
"I'd say we do, but what does this have to do with your sensing abilities?"
Kazuha shakes his head. "Ah yes, I've gotten off course. With my keen sense of hearing, I can pick up on all sorts of sounds. I believe this is nature's favor. It allows me to sense danger long before it draws near. Or, as you like to put it, to "smell" danger." Kazuha adds with a small, yet smug, grin.
You roll your eyes at him. "So, you just have good hearing? Is that all?"
Kazuha puts his hand on his chest feigning offense. "Is that all? Why, I have poured out my deepest secrets to you, and that is your chosen response? Well, I certainly sense that many things about you elude me still. All of these things of which I intend to know. Then, this shall be a fair exchange."
You hold up a hand in denial. "Hoooold on, what if I don't have any secrets, huh? What if I'm just a regular ol' wandering photographer who likes to look at pretty things? What'll you do then?" Kazuha gives a small smirk at your response.
"That is highly unlikely. Every wanderer has their story, and I hear the voices of all things in nature. That includes yours. Now, let us be off. Our delivery has long been delayed."
"Alright. But don't expect me to spill my life story while we're on the road, 'cause it's not happening." You respond admantly, abruptly getting up from the log you were sitting on.
"But of course not," Kazuha says, effortlessly catching up to you on the sand, the trail of glowing boxes just behind him.
"For I believe it is the true nature of a relationship to blossom slowly, such as a lovely sakura bloom."
You sigh. "Funny, I didn't know it was possible to speak flower until you opened your mouth. Guess you learn something new every day."
"And I will take that as a cherished compliment." he smiles, his eyes reflecting the last few rays of the setting sun.
You look away from him with a huff, only to realize that you were smiling too.
Talking with him was... fun?
