The sun sets sleepily over salty waves crashing against the side of a ship's hull. Sailors holler to each other from across the vessel as they start their tasks for the day. But, their calls grow softer as one climbs farther and farther into the sky.
"I don't know what Beidou was thinking, making two people lookout. Do you really need two sets of eyes to look out at an empty sea?" you shake your head, rubbing the sleepiness out of your eyes.
You and Kazuha currently sit in the crow's nest of the Alcor, surveying the wide open waters. You were a bit nervous about being so high off the ground, but Kazuha assured you beforehand that he wouldn't let you fall.
"Perhaps she had ulterior motives." Kazuha smiles ruefully. You roll your eyes, leaning against his shoulder and breathing a sigh of contentment.
You let out a small giggle. "Shouldn't she be more focused on her and Ninguang's relationship instead of ours?"
Kazuha puts a finger to his lips with a grin. "Shhh, Beidou would deny you quite admantly should you ever question her about the matter."
"Pffffft, even I figured that one out, and I'm awful at reading social cues." you nod firmly. "It's only a matter of time."
Kazuha's crimson eyes gleamed with humor. "Indeed. That said—" his expression suddenly softens, and he turns his full gaze to you. "—I am beyond grateful for our own bluntness in the matters of the heart. Any longer would have been simply unbearable."
"Well then, you should've said something sooner," you tease lightly, taking your hand and playing with Kazuha's ponytail. "For all your talk of frankness, you sure tend to beat around the bush y'know."
He chuckles, a sweet and melodic sound that floats with the breeze. "My sincerest apologies. Once again, you have cut straight to the heart of the matter. "
"Hehe, you can count on me," you grin. "Say Kazuha, where do you want to go when we reach Liyue Harbor?"
"I did hear of some fascinating ancient ruins from some merchants as we departed my homeland. Perhaps that would be an apt place to being our new journey?"
"Ruins?" You blink.
"Ah, if that is not to your liking, I have also heard that is once again time for Liyue's Latern Rite festivities."
Your eyes shine. "Ooo, do you think we could see both?"
Kazuha brushes a small piece of your hair from your eyes warmly. "It is certainly possible."
The two of you sit in a comfortable silence as the ship moves forward, the cries of gulls in the distance. Finally, Kazuha takes a deep breath.
"Ah, finally. I believe is in complete."
You gaze at him, confused. "Huh? Finished what?"
"A poem of mine that I have been pondering since I had the great fortune of meeting you." he says, the corners of his mouth curling up into a cheeky smile.
You gasp. "No way, since we first met? How long does it take to write poetry anyway?"
Kazuha looks away, thinking carefully. "For some lines, they come to me in an instant. But for others..."
He looks back to you. "Their wonder takes days, months, or even years to fully capture through words."
You feel your face start to heat up, and you turn your head. "Kazuha..."
He wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. "Shhhh, please let me recite it to you."
His breath is warmer than the salty breeze. You nod, staying quiet, as Kazuha begins to speak softly.
"Your spirit is that of a swirling vortex. A whirlpool of emotion, just waiting to become a tsunami. Not even the moon can control the tides of your kind heart."
You let his voice wash over and linger for a moment, before turning your body and hugging him tightly with both arms."
"You... you silly Artist..." you mumble, burying your face in his shirt.
"I will take that as a compliment then," Kazuha laughs freely before pausing. "So Y/N—"
He looks directly your eyes.
"While I am still able to, I wish to travel far and wide and meet all sorts of different people. But, I also wish to share these experiences with someone whom I cherish greatly. My dearest... yes, my dearest."You hug him closer, struggling to not let yourself burst into happy tears.
Kazuha continues smoothly. "Would you accompany me, Y/N? To any corner of this world?"
"I think you already know the answer to that." you smile sweetly, lifting your head.
"And yet I still wish to hear you say it." Kazuha places a hand on your head, gently ruffling your hair.
You chuckle. "Fine then. Wherever you go, I go too. I promise."
You lean forward, sealing your promise with a soft kiss on his lips.
There were no more questions about how you both felt about each other. You would deal with the future when the time came, and do your very best together.
