"I-I don't like the look of this place," you mumble, looking up at the dark and daunting building looming before you. You wonder how a place like this could've possibly been missed.
"I must concur, for this place reeks of danger," Kazuha agrees, his grip tightening on the blade at his side.
You two stand before a domain, no sign of the Traveler anywhere. You break out in a cold sweat. The longer you stand here, the more your worry for the Traveler grows.
Kazuha takes a deep breath before stepping forward. "While I do not wish to enter this place, we must make haste to ensure our friend's safety."
You nod. "You're right, let's hurry!"
"Hold it!" A voice from behind you calls.
You turn your head, only to find a horde of angry Fatui warriors with their weapons drawn. Your eyes widen, and it all suddenly clicks into.
"The Fatui! That supplier... was the Fatui?!" You sputter, drawing your own spear. Kazuha flanks you, blade at the ready.
"Steady now," Kazuha whispers. "Show no weakness in front of our opponents. Stay calm as the breeze."
An electro Fatui agent steps forward with a smirk. "Well well, guess the Harbinger wasn't the only one who called backup."
Harbinger? There's a harbinger here too?
"Let's tear 'em to pieces before we head in," snarls an icy Fatui.
Kazuha sighs, twirling his blade as if it were a baton. "I could warn you beforehand that it would be unwise to face my dear companion and I, however—"
With one fluid motion, he thrusts his sword swiftly into the chest of one of the Fatui fighters. "—I believe you have already chosen your fate!"
"GET THEM!" The electro Fatui yells angrily, and the battle begins.
Bouncing on the balls of your feet, you readjust your grip on your spear and do your best to help the samurai at your side as he effortlessly wields his blade.
Intercepting and parrying blow after blow, you and Kazuha soon defeat every Fatui fighter (though it was mostly Kazuha).
Wiping the sweat from his brow, Kazuha smiles at you.
You smile back, putting away your spear. "Pretty good huh?"
He thinks for a moment, placing his bandages hand on his chin. "Let me think how to aptly phrase these words of praise... you fought well." He chuckles.
You roll your eyes. "Aww, that's it? No fancy poetry?"
"You cannot rush creativity, my dear," Kazuha explains with a soft smile. Your heart catches in your throat for a moment.
My dear? Am I... dear to him?!
"Awww, look here, a pair of lovebirds." A mischievous voice calls from behind you. You spin around to find a woman with rose-colored hair and stormy violet eyes leisurely approaching you.
Kazuha swiftly draws his blade with narrowed eyes, but she waves a hand at him. "No need for that, for you and I are here for the same thing."
You blink. "Are you here to help the Traveler too?"
She nods, and Kazuha lowers his sword begrudgingly. "Indeed. I have a very special mission for them that may turn the tide on this silly little war of ours."
"I find that a rather crude understatement." Kazuha says sharply. "Many of my comrades have lost their lives to the Vision Hunt Decree, so I ask you not take it so lightly."
The woman chuckles. "Oh my, apologies apologies. But no matter. Shall we head in?"
You hold up a hand. "Hold on a second, we don't even know your name!"
She smiles. "Ah, yes. You can call me Yae Miko."
Without another word, she steps into the domain. How strange, her aura reminds you af a carefree fox...
You feel a warm hand on your shoulder. "Shall we go?" Kazuha asks. His eyes were elsewhere though. You think Yae Miko's comment really struck a nerve.
You nod to him, placing your own hand on his shoulder. His eyes widen with suprise, but then he seems to relax.
"Let's go Kazuha."
