January 17
Winnie called Calum ten minutes after Calum had gotten ready to go to Uni, and was extremely surprised.
Calum picked up immediately. "Hey."
"Oh, hey. How are you doing?"
"I'm great, how about you?"
"I'm doing good, thanks. I was just wondering, if you wanted to go to the ice skating rink?"
"When?"
"Like, now? We'd only be skipping the first two classes of the day."
"Oh, um..." Calum knew his mom wouldn't like him ditching class, she already didn't exactly approve of Calum's career goals. He knew he had to do well- no, more than well- to prove her wrong.
"Please? It'd be so fun, I don't have anyone else to go with."
Calum froze. I don't have anyone else to go with. Did she mean that Calum was basically her backup? Whatever. She was still Winnie, after all, right? "Okay, sure. Is anyone else going to be there?"
"No, it's just you and me. And it's just the local rink a few minutes away from school. I'll meet you there."
"I can pick you up," Calum offered.
"No need, I'm there already."
"Oh, okay. See ya soon." He says, hanging up the phone in excitement.
Did Winnie just invite him to the skating rink? Alone?

"I told you it'd be worth skipping school for, you lil nerd." Winnie said, laughing.
Calum smiled with her, mainly focusing on not falling on his butt like an idiot.
"I can't believe you hesitated."
Calum furrowed his brows. "What do you mean?"
"Like, I can't believe you actually thought it over. It'd be an automatic yes for me."
"Yeah well, I'm just kind of concerned for the future I have right now. Things aren't exactly super smooth between my mother and I." He said. That wasn't completely true, it was okay, since Calum didn't really tell her the truth. But he had to exaggerate otherwise Winnie would think he was an idiot.
"Oh. Well, that's understandable, I guess. But like, do you always have to be such a nerd?"
Calum felt so offended. Was she insulting him, or just teasing? Calum couldn't tell.
But after another half hour of skating around with her, Calum felt so relaxed and comfortable. He was skating with the girl of his dreams!
People who date in college have really high chances of getting married... was it possible that Calum and Winnie would get married? Calum nearly fainted at the thought.

Winnie got out of her car right after Calum pulled up into a parking space behind the school.
Winnie grinned at him. "I had a really good time. You're a lot better at skating than I thought you would be."
Calum blushed slightly, as he reached for her hand. She didn't let go.
"Hey, would you mind ditching a few more periods?"
Calum shrugged. He'd already ditched two, it wouldn't matter at this point how many more he missed today. "Okay."
"Here, follow me." She said, leading Calum back to her car. She got inside, and pulled out a wine cooler from her trunk, and told Calum to go sit in the backseat, so no one would catch the two drinking.
"Uh, I don't know, I don't really drink, Winnie." Calum said, trying to make up excuses. He knew it wasn't right to drink.
"Oh, come on, don't be such a prude, Cal. You were so much fun, how much more fun would you be if you're drunk?"
Calum didn't care anymore. All he wanted to do was to please Winnie. He was so close, he couldn't let the girl he could possibly marry slip through his fingertips.
So he drank.
And drank.
Until he was more than tipsy but less than drunk.
"You're so beautiful, Win." He slurred. He knew what he was saying, and his brain was telling him not to say it, but he said it anyway.
Winnie giggled, and ran her fingers through his hair.
"You know, I've always wanted to kiss you the moment I saw you, you're perfect."
Winnie giggled again. "Well, I can kiss you right now." She said.
And before Calum could even realize what was going on, Winnie's mouth was on his.
This was all Calum ever wanted.
