EACH TIME RYAN TOOK A BREATHE IN, his nose will always tickle but he ignored the feeling because he needed to sleep especially after a tedious shopping for baby supplies. As he touched his nose, he felt something silky and that's when he opened his eyes. It was Nicole's hair, her head was on top of his chest. He brushed her hair away from his face and tapped his wife.
"Dove, your hair is in my nose."
Nicole stirred in her sleep and Ryan smiled at the funny thought that crossed his mind. He reached for his phone and unlocked it with his fingerprint. He quickly went to his music app and played a song and placed the phone close to her ear even though the volume was loud, and that made Nicole jerk awake and he laughed hysterically.
"I never knew you could be this troublesome." Nicole scowled.
"Sorry, you woke me up too. Your hair got into my nose. Good morning, Dove."
Nicole smiled on hearing the name he called her. He'd been calling her 'dove' since their honeymoon seven months ago "Good morning, love." she replied.
"Dove. Love. It makes sense, it rhymes." Ryan chuckled.
"Do you want to watch the sunrise with me?"
"Yes!" she said gleefully.
"I have always watch the sunset all my life."
" I'll change that." he got out of bed wearing a t-shirt over his bare chest and pulled Nicole out of bed who was just wearing a nightgown.
With the new environment where they now lived, they could have a better view of the sunrise.
They both stood in their balcony with their fingers intertwined with each other. They stared at the reddish yellow hue line that displayed in the dark blue sky anticipating the sunrise.
"Do you remember the day I waved to you? The first day we met actually." Ryan said still staring at the sky.
"Yes I do and I was wondering who you were?"
"I thought the same, I knew someone lived there but I didn't know who the person was. I was given three months holiday before I resumed work again. Do you know since I bought that house, I can count the number of times I slept in it?"
"When you moved in, I knew. I have friends who told me about a new neighbor who moved in and when I threw a party for my arrival. I invited you so I could get to know my neighbor but then, I didn't have feelings for you. Anytime I slept, I saw you in my dreams. I knew your name before you told me. The realtor told me, the man who sold the house to you."
Nicole sighed deeply "I never knew I had a stalker."
"Thank God you never knew. I bet you would have arrested me."
"Right away."
They laughed.
"I thought it was all those lustful dreams you know but it wasn't. It was God telling me you're my wife and so one day I just decided to visit one of my old time buddy and on my way the car in front of my crashed into another car, it was you who crashed into another car because you weren't paying attention to the traffic light. I rushed out to see if I could be of help to the person and then I saw it was you."
"I am pretty sure you were like, you again?" Nicole giggled as she placed her hand over her protruded belly.
"No!" Ryan laughed "I felt empathy. I decided to take you to the hospital before the ambulance arrived."
"You're a life saver. I'm forever grateful." Tears threatened to fall but she fought back.
"From there we became friends. I started falling in love with you." he locked eyes with her, placing his hand over hers on her belly.
"And I think I had a crush on you." a Nicole confessed. When she saw his jaw drop in surprise she yelled, "Just one day! The day we ran together."
"So hilarious!" he playfully pulled her nose.
"Sometimes the things we desperately search for is closer than we think."
"Just as I found you." He caressed her cheeks and kissed her briefly. "It's about time for the sun to rise"
The sunrise illuminated the blue as if it were igniting the most perfect flame.
