It had been almost two weeks since Hawk Moth last contacted Chloé. She assumed he had forgotten about her, but she hadn't seen an akuma since the attack during Félix's live interview a week ago. She was getting restless. Didn't he want her help?

She had been forcing Sabrina to leave earlier and earlier just in case. Sabrina didn't need to be involved in her partnership with Hawk Moth. This was about her.

She flipped through the TV channels. "When is it my turn to be the hero?"

"Ladybug and Chat Noir are Paris's heroes!" the news anchor gushed.

"Ugh!" Chloé turned the TV off. She stared at her reflection in the black screen. Is this the right thing to do? She shook her head. She was still going to be good, even if she got help from a villain. It was a necessary evil. No one gave her a chance to prove herself, so she had to take matters into her own hands.

It was getting late when Chloé heard a tap on her balcony door. Hawk Moth lurked on her balcony in the shadows. She quickly opened the door.

"I will mobilize you very soon. Please be ready. For now, try to upset some of your classmates so I can akumatize them. It's for research. You know Ladybug and Chat Noir will save the day," Hawk Moth told her.

She nodded.

Hawk Moth handed her a replica of Ladybug's yo-yo. "Take this for when you are akumitized."

Chloé accepted it begrudgingly.

"Also, keep a close eye on your classmate, Marinette."

Chloé frowned. "Why Marinette again?"

Hawk Moth narrowed his eyes. "Don't ask questions. Just keep an eye on her. You'll know when you see it."

She nodded again.

He vanished into the night. She stayed out on the balcony staring into the night sky. Why is he so obsessed with Marinette? She wondered how Marinette could fit into the picture. Her mind drifted to Ladybug. She froze.

He must think Marinette is Ladybug.

She shook her head. "Ugh! No way Marinette is Ladybug. I'll keep a close eye on her to prove him wrong."

She double-checked that her doors were locked before settling in for the night. The fact that Hawk Moth knew where she lived left her feeling unsettled. There was something ominous about the thought of him creeping through Paris at night.

She laid down to sleep and closed her eyes.

Chloé observed the ravaged Paris from her balcony with little feeling in her body. The flames twisted around the familiar roads and buildings. She could hear screams in the distance as the Earth began to shake.

"What have I done," she heard herself whisper.

She jolted up in bed. Her heart was pounding and sweat glistened on her forehead. Her hand went to her chest and she clutched her shirt as she tried to steady her breathing.
