"Slytherin!" At the time she didn't really think about what the sorting hat had said, just because she had been sorted into slytherin she wasn't a bad person. Even though both her parents and two year older brother said so, she knew she wasn't mean, they would always love her.
She looked at her brother that was sitting by his house table, gryffindor, the red banners swaying slightly over the table. She was expecting a smile, that he would be proud of his little sister, no matter what house she had been sorted into. But the cold look in his eyes suggested otherwise, he looked disgusted by her, ashamed.
Y/n didn't understand, he said that he was proud of her, that he would protect her, love her. Her smile slowly fell as she realised that almost the entire table of proud gryffindors were glaring at her.
Tears started to build up into her eyes and a lump started to form in her throat as she started walking towards the green and silver themed table. The students there welcomed her, patted her back as she sat down. She smiled slightly, but felt numb inside, like she had lost everything.
There was a boy across from her, his hair raven and slightly curly, skin pale as moonlight and eyes as green as a forest. Their eyes met, and there was plenty emotions swirling around, but one was standing out, sympathy. He looked at her with an understanding look, he understood her, the feelings that she felt, because he felt the same.
She later learned that his name was Regulus Black, Sirius Blacks younger brother.
Y/n and Regulus were the same age, they became inseparable as the years passed, best friends.Several years later when Y/n and Regulus were in fifth grade, they were casually walking down a hallway, towards the transfiguration class that were starting in ten minutes. Apparently the seventh graders class had just ended, judging by the door that suddenly burst open and a wave of them walked out. Y/n and Regulus leaned against the opposite wall and continued to chat, not minding the older students.
"Y/n." A voice caught their attention. James were standing a few meters away from them. His hair messy and glasses lopsided.
"James." Y/n said, shocked that her brother approached her this open. She glanced behind him only to meet Lily's gaze. She had made him come over, not him. Her heart ached once she realised this.
"How are you?" He asked, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his trousers.
"Fine." Y/n replied, now only thinking about how he was forced to stand here, talking to his only sister. James scoffed and shook his head at her answer.
"Just 'fine'? No 'How about you'? You really have changed."
"How would you know?" Y/n asked, staring right into his eyes. "How would you know if i have changed? You've spoked to me ten times since i started school. You don't know anything." Her eyes darkened as she spoke, feeling anger spread through her body.
"I- wha- You know what. I don't care, forget i asked. I'm embarrassed to be related to slytherin scum like you. Why don't you slither into the dungeons again, and bring your snake boyfriend too. Bitch." James said, looking for a reaction.
"Hey, back off Potter." Regulus said, pushing his shoulder lightly. James immediately tensed up and stepped closer to him.
"Get your hands of me, filthy death eater." James hissed at Regulus. At first Y/n didn't know what to say or do. She just looked at James in disbelief. "Good for you Y/n, you have your own bodyguard now, pathetic." As he uttered the last word he gestured towards her, making her flinch. The coldness immediately disappeared from his eyes, and he saw his little sister, terrified of him.
"How can you stand there and act strong and proud, act like you mean so much, when in reality you are weak. You are weak James. Weak." She said before she turned around, walking away from James, Regulus following closely behind.
Once they were in the common room again, Y/n broke down. She sobbed heavily, her body shaking as she gasped for air. Regulus immediately engulfed her, pressing the smaller girl into his chest. His heart ached as he listened to her sobs, he didn't want the person that he cared for the most to be sad. The person that he loved the most in the entire world.
The raven haired boy had grown feelings for the girl. Strong feelings. It had started early on, in first grade. Obviously he didn't dare to tell her, she was the only friend that cared for him so deeply. Little did he know, Y/n felt the same for him.
He rested his chin against the top of her head once she had calmed down. They were still in the common room, in front of the crackling fireplace. They were alone still, classes were to end in a few hours.
"Thank you Reggie." Y/n suddenly spoke. "You mean a lot to me." She said looking up at him.
"You mean a lot to me as well Y/n." Regulus smiled down at her, looking into her bright eyes. He felt so safe with her, so calm. "I'm in love with you." The words slipped out of his mouth before he could think about them. He tensed up noticeably, opening his mouth to explain himself. But before he could, a pair of warm lips landed on his.
Y/n cupped his cheeks and straddled his thighs as she kissed him gently. He soon kissed her back, his hands cupping her cheeks as well, deepening the kiss.
They broke apart, and just looked at each other with small smiles on their lips.
"I'm in love with you too Regulus."
