As I leave the room, I can't stop thinking about the necklace.
I need to take care of this thing, because obviously I can't get another one.
As I'm heading to my room, I see all of the other dwarves sitting around a fire. Kili is sitting and reading while smoking his pipe, and Fili is watching the stars.
Bofur tosses a sausage to Bombur, who breaks his chair as soon as he catches it. This causes a massive uproar of laughter, including me.
The dwarves finally notice that I'm walking in and turn to look.
"Evening, Nossa," Dwalin says.
I wave at him and Fili and Kili stand and walk towards me.
"I just wanted to say goodnight before heading to bed," I say.
"What did Gandalf want you for?" Kili asks.
"It turns out that my necklace can hold moonlight, so when I need a light, I can use it," I explain. "He just wanted to confirm a suspicion."
"Cool," Kili says.
"Anyway, I think I'm going to go to bed," I say.
"Do you have to? Right now?" Fili asks.
I sigh and smile.
"No, I can spend some time with you."
Fili, Kili, and I all sit down on a bench and watch the stars. Kili smokes his pipe contentedly, and my head rests on Fili's shoulder.
"Should I go get our pipes?" he asks.
"Sure," I mumble. Fili gets up and walks away, and I watch him go.
"You totally have a crush on him," Kili says, blowing a smoke ring.
"I do not!" I reply, blushing profusely.
"Yes you do. I can see it in your eyes," he says, smirking at me.
"Maybe I do. What are you going to do about it?"
"Nothing at all."
When Fili comes back, we all smoke our pipes for a bit. Eventually, I can't hold my eyes open any longer and I fall asleep on Fili's shoulder.
We're woken just after the break of dawn by Thorin.
"Come, we're leaving," he says.
"Wha-?" I mumble. I'm in my room, and I'm not going to question how I got here.
"We're leaving. Pack your things, we're meeting at the statues of the Elven soldiers," Thorin says.
"What about Gandalf?" I ask.
"We talked. He said we should leave and he was going to catch up with us."
Thorin leaves and I quickly change out of my dress and back into my more comfortable traveling gear.
Once my bag is packed up, I walk to the statues. When I arrive, I see most of the other dwarves there already. When the others arrive, we start on our trek from Rivendell.
"Be on your guard," Thorin says as we walk across the side of a mountain. "We're about to step over the Edge of the Wild."
He stops walking and faces the company.
"Balin, you know these paths. Lead on."
"Aye," Balin replies.
As we walk, Bilbo stops to look at the city. I can tell he loved it there.
"Master Baggins, I suggest you keep up," Thorin says.
Bilbo sighs heavily and continues walking.
"You loved it there, didn't you?" I ask in a whisper. He nods.
"It was so peaceful and calm, and the elves were so kind."
"I agree. I don't fully understand Thorin's hatred for Elves. At least, not these ones."
Bilbo smiles at me and we continue to walk. I have grown quite fond of the halfling. He's so gentle, and I feel kind of bad that he was dragged into this quest that could get him killed.
