When I got off work I went home changed clothes and went to my thinking spot on Lake Tahoe that I've been going to since I was a kid.
I like picking up rocks and skipping them across the water. I can't get my mind off Angie's face and how devastated she looked.
I pulled out my phone and texted Sof.
📱 I'm at my favorite place if your not busy come down I want to talk to you about something.
📱 I'm out and about I'll be there soon.
I put my phone back up and skipped a few more rocks across the water until Sofia turned up.
"I brought you a cherry limeade since I was at sonic." She said handing it to me sitting down.
"Oh, thanks! I needed this." I smiled.
"So what's up? Why are we out here sitting on rocks Pria?"
"I saw Angie come in today in tears and Dane said at lunch she was going to the doctor for another opinion. I'm not sure how but I want to help them."
"Yeah, Dane called and told me. She just can't carry children and was so distraught today. I love Angie to pieces and don't understand." She said.
"How can we help her? I mean I know they have money can they pay for a surrogate? Why hasn't she tried IVF or something?"
"She has tried everything that she can think of and nothing works short of Dane sleeping with someone."
"Well hell, that wouldn't be hard to do." I laughed.
"I don't think Angie would approve."
"Yeah, probably not," I said skipping another rock.
"What if we found someone we know who could carry the baby for them?" She asked.
"What if I do it?"
"You? Are you willing to do that Pria?"
"Why not? I'm not ready to get married or have children of my own and they desperately want one."
"Let's go over to their house and talk to them. I mean if you're sure."
"I wouldn't have said it Sof if I wasn't. Call and make sure we can come over first."
While she's talking to them about coming over I know it's the right thing to offer and I would love to help them.
"They said come on over they were fixing dinner and we can eat with them."
"Alright let's go I'll follow you over there."
On the way over I didn't know how to broach the subject but I'm sure Sof will help me.
When we pulled up we walked on in because Sof doesn't knock anywhere. "Where are you guys?"
"Kitchen!" Dane said.
"I'm glad you guys came to eat with us. Where have you been?"
"At Pria's favorite place."
"Lake Tahoe?" Dane asked.
"How did you know?" I laughed.
"I remember you always used to go there as a kid and fish and skip rocks."
"Still do." I laugh.
We carried the food to the dinner table and sit around the table.
Angie poured some wine and handed us all a glass. "To family!" She smiled.
During dinner, I kept looking over at Sof and I was waiting on her to start the conversation for me.
"So we come over here for a reason and we want to talk to you about something. Well, really Pria does." Sof said.
Great, she just dropped the bag in my lap.
"Umm I don't know how to say this and I don't know if your even interested in this but I know about your baby problems and I think you both would be great parents and I want to help you," I said.
"How would you help us?" Angie asked.
"I want to be your surrogate and carry the baby for you."
"Are you sure?" Dane asked.
"Positive. You know I don't have a life or a man and I don't want a child of my own but I would love to help the both of you." I said.
"Wow," Angie said breaking down crying.
"Angie I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you."
"No Pria it's not that. No one has wanted to help us and we are out of options." She sniffed.
"Dane can draw up some papers and I will go to the doctor and make sure I'm healthy and then figure out where we go from there," I said.
"We need to talk about it but if your serious we will find out what our next step is," Dane said.
I smiled at both of them and reach across the table for Angie's hands. "I am willing to help make your dreams come true."
"What about Simon? Will he pitch a fit?" Dane asked.
"I don't care what dad thinks or wants. He's not thinking of me keeping that gold digger in the house." I shrugged.
"I appreciate you being willing to do this for us Pria from the bottom of my heart. We will talk it over tonight and I'll talk to my doctor tomorrow and see what our next step would be." Angie said.
We finished our dessert and helped clean up the kitchen before we left.
"Just come stay the night with me so you don't have to be cornered by Eliza," Sof said.
"Let me run home and get some clothes and I'll be right over," I said.
I made it home and run upstairs and grabbed a bag and put what I needed in it and when I walked back downstairs dad was in the formal living room pouring a drink.
"Where are you going, sweetie?"
"To stay the night with Sof. I'll see you in the morning Dad. Nite!"
"Nite love you Pria be careful!"
"I will bye."
I got in my car and smiled all the way over to Sofia's because I know I'm doing the right thing. I just feel it deep down in my gut.
When I pulled up at Sof's my phone rang.
☎️ Hello?
