Two years later...
Dane and I are walking Kayden hand in hand to his first day of preschool.
It's hard to believe our little boy is going to school. We wanted to start him early so that he can make friends and start learning early.
I look over at Dane as Kayden walks over to two little boys playing with cars and waves bye to us.
"Dane he doesn't need us anymore," I said tearing up.
"He will always need us Pria. I'm proud of our son." He said smiling down at me.
We walked into work and found dad in the conference room with Yvette. She turned out to be a great asset to our law office.
She joined dad and Dane and now I have even more files to keep up with but she's nice and once when Eliza came in I had a front-row seat to a catfight.
Once at the office as soon as we walked in Dad asked to see me in his office.
I kissed Dane and then went to see what he wanted. "What's up dad?"
"I need to ask you a question Pria."
"Shoot."
"Bang!... But seriously how do you feel about Yvette?"
"Why are you asking this? She has been with us a couple of years now and we get along great dad."
"Good because I want to propose to her. I even bought a ring. What do you think?" He asked pulling it out of the drawer.
"Wow, dad that's a lot of diamonds but If you're asking if I approve then I do and I think she will love it."
"Thank you sweetie I will let you know how it goes."
"Sounds good dad and good luck!" I smiled getting out and walking out to my desk.
I walked to Dane's room and he smiled when he saw me. "You will never guess what dad wanted."
"What did he want this time love?"
"Wanted to know if I would be ok with him proposing to Yvette. He even showed me a big ring."
"What did you say to that?"
"I told him whatever makes him happy and if he wants to marry her then I'm ok with it," I said.
"You have come a long way since the gold digger Eliza." He laughed.
"Hush! No one liked her at all." I laughed.
"Well, I have a conference call here in a few minutes love."
"Alright well, I have some files to get and put away anyway. Don't forget we have to go pick up Kayden at 3."
The rest of the day I stayed busy but I couldn't wait to pick up Kayden and find out how his first day went.
When Dane walked out of his office with his briefcase I knew it was time to go. I gathered up my things and said bye to Dad and then headed to pick up Kayden.
We pulled up at the preschool and walked in and when Kayden saw us he ran over between us and grabbed onto our legs.
"Kayden do you like school?" I asked.
"Yup!" He smiled.
Dane leaned down and picked him up and kissed his face. "How about some ice cream?"
"Please daddy." He smiled.
While Dane took him out to the truck and buckle him in I stayed to talk to his teacher to see how he did today.
"Oh, Kayden is a pleasure. He's such a good kid and follows directions. We did a bunch of coloring and here are his works." She said.
"Thank you so much! We will see you tomorrow." I said before walking out.
When I got in the truck Kayden was talking up a storm.
"Momma!" He yelled.
"I can tell he is very excited so I told him we would have ice cream with sprinkles at home." Dane laughed.
"Sounds good to me." I smiled over at him and squeezed his hand.
Once home I took Kayden upstairs to change his clothes and then we joined Dane in the kitchen with a bowl of chocolate ice cream with sprinkles.
"Is it good champ?" Dane asked.
"Yup so good." He smiled.
I begin supper while they ate ice cream. I haven't been feeling well and didn't really want any ice cream. It tends to hurt my stomach.
"More sprinkles daddy," Kayden said.
Dane laughed and put a little more on Kayden's ice cream.
After the ice cream, Dane took Kayden outside to play while I finished up dinner.
I made steak and mashed potatoes, macaroni, and cheese for Kayden and corn on the cob.
I walked to the patio and saw them running playing football in the backyard.
"It's time to eat you guys," I said.
Kayden ran in with Dane chasing him and they went to the bathroom to wash up.
I put the food on the table and grabbed some drinks and sit down waiting on my two favorite guys.
"Macaroni momma!" Kayden pointed.
"Yes I made your favorite Kayden." I smiled putting some in a bowl.
"Thanks for making this delicious meal love it looks wonderful."
"Oh, Dane you don't have to thank me. I hope it's good." I said taking a sip of my lemonade.
"Yummy," Kayden said rubbing his belly.
I couldn't help but laugh. He is a stinker but I love him with all of my heart.
After dinner, Dane offered to clean up while I took Kayden upstairs to bathe and get him ready for bed.
I laid down in his big boy bed with him and begin reading him a story when Dane walked into the room.
"Room for me in this bed?" He asked.
"Of course. Do you want to read the story Dane?"
"Sure I can do that." He said snuggling in beside Kayden and I handed him the book.
It's fun when Dane tells the story because he's so animated. At some point, I must have dozed off and Dane woke me up with a kiss.
I smiled at him as I crawled out of the bed and covered Kayden up kissing his little jaw.
We stood there hugging watching our baby boy sleep.
