What chores..?

"Hey! You, I haven't seen yall around here before. Are you guys new?"

I look around but don't see anybody, I turn to look at Alex, who looks at me, stifling his laughter and pointing down at something.

I hear the squeaky voice again
"D..down here.." they say glumly.

I looked downwards to see an extremely short woman with curly hair and speckles on her skin.

"Oh, I'm sorry! What do you need?" I ask them, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Missy, I asked if you was new around here? Are you deaf or just plain stupid?"
This woman had a tiny body, but a large amount of Sass.

Alex looked at me, fist in his mouth and tears in his eyes from trying to stop himself from bursting out in laughter, he was enjoying this too much.

"Sorry..My name is Eliana and this is Alex, and we are new here, we are uhm..Travellers from a faraway land, Eheh!"

"Travellers....riiiightttt." She looked at us with suspicion written in her eyes.

"Uhm, anyways I think it's time for us to book an inn, right Alex?" I grin at Alex with a look that said 'she is bad news, let's gtfo of here '

The woman looked at us dead in the eyes
"An inn you say? Well I know an innkeeper who has totally fresh,  but affordable deals, plus you don't have a lot of money, do ya?"

I checked my messenger bad "yes we do-" I had only just realised now that Instead of grabbing gold coins, I had grabbed silver.
"...No we don't actually"
Alex stopped laughing-crying and looked at me wide eyed.

"Well..since yall are broke and all, I could help you get a Lil discount, my buddy here doesn't really charge that much, just two prices of silver per night!"

I looked at Alex.
He looked at me.

"Alright, what kind of stunt do you want us to do?"

"Chill, chill miss girl, all I want yall to do is to help a girl out with her chores."

"Chores?" Alex and I both say in unison.
"What kind of chores?.."

"Oh ya know, just lightwork and all."
The woman  avoided eye contact with us.

Seemed too good to be true, but then again, we wouldn't really have this opportunity ever again, right? We had nothing to lose I guess.
