After a long time of walking, we stopped at a nearby well to fetch some water, after all, we both didn't have anything to drink since we left the palace.
"Uuughhh..all that climbing and walking and hiding from suspicious people makes me tireddd" I groan.
"Yeah..me too, I can't wait to catch a break." He yawns.
"Oh! By the way, what's your name?"
"Oh its P-"
He seemed to hesitate on finishing that sentence
"It's Alex, Haha, silly me, I almost said Peter!"
He chuckledI took his hand into mine, and we kinda stared at eachother for a while until I remembered what I was going to say.
"My names uh..Eliana! pleased to meet you." I shake his hand, embarrassed.
"Charmed." He says, stifling a giggle.I let go of his hand and he starts to crank the well's handle.
We waited in silence for the bucket to come reeling in."Ah, finally!"
He sat the bucket onto the side of the well.
"Do you have any sort of thing to hold water in?" Alex asked me."You mean..a cup?" I said.
"Uh yeahh."
"Sorry to break it to ya, but I don't have one." I give an awkward smile.
"Oh, that's fine. We can share, You use one side of the cup and I use the other."
I blush. Sharing a mug with a boy..Heh Heh spicyyyyy, not bad Eve, not bad.
He rummages for a cup in his bad for a few seconds, then rummages for something else. He turns to face the well with a wooden, and what seems to be a home-made mug, and a few pebbles, a jar of sand, a piece of cloth, and charcoal.
He pours the water into a cup.
"Wait, don't drink it yet, it's unfiltered." He says.
"Soo, Mr smart guy, what are all those unnecessary things you have in your sachel for?"
I ask him whilst picking at bark from a tree."To filter the water, by bejabbers! your asking so many questions already."
He pulls out a sort of container from his sachel and places it onto the ground.
He then put the piece of cloth over it and put pebbles onto of the cloth and poured the water into the container.I watched in confusion.
Alex removed the cloth and pebbles and put them onto the cup, but this time he removed the pebbles and replaced them with sand and poured the water into the cup.
I raised my eyebrows, what on earth was this filtering process.
He removed the sand and picked up the charcoal and started to crush it with his fists.
I stared at him. 'woah, he's jacked.' I thought to myself.
I watched as he removed the sandy cloth and replace it with a new one, pitting it onto if the container this time, and putting the crushed up charcoal ontop.
He poured the water into the cup, and back out, and into the cup, and back out, until he finally stopped, scrubbed the inside of the cup with the bottom of his shirt, and poured it one last time into the cup.
He packed the remaining items back into his oddly big satchel and took a sip of the water."ahhh, nice. Wanna try Eliana?"
"Sure."
I take a sip out of the cup."We won't have to go through this process all over again at the villiage, right?"
I ask nervously."Of course not, silly."
He replied.
"Now let's start walking."We walked for hours until we finally we saw the rooves of houses and the heads of people.
"Alex! Alex we're finally here!!" I squeal.
"Why yes we are." Alex chuffed.
We hop a fence and found ourselves in a humongous looking villiage with heaps of market stalls and civilisation, there were lovely wisteria plants hanging from rooves, and heaps of beautiful flowering trees, it was spring, so everything was blooming.
We looked around until I felt a tap on my shoulder and a squeaky voice say "Hey!"
