CHAPTER 19

11:11 Dark and Twisty

Being dark and twisty is not a flaw. It's  a strength. I learned that from Derek Shepherd of Grey's Anatomy.

I was alone in my dormitory room for five years and was again alone in my condo after I graduated. No one was there during my breakdowns so I have to deal with it. Making me a dark and twisty person and that bubbly Dia, disappeared. I think I just found who the real Dia is.

But I am not referring to that dark and twisty attitude here. I am talking about this case, very dark and twisty.

"Is the team there?" tanong ko kay Nico.

"Yes. It was really a  horrible scene." he responded.

Nilibot ko ang paningin ko sa paligid. Where is she?

"Catherine!" I called my secretary.

She ran towards me and smiled widely. Crazy.

"Go with Nico. Don't do anything that will disappoint me. Okay?" bilin ko sa kanya.

"Yes, Prosecutor Ferrer." she even saluted.

"And uhhh bring your notepad because I want a report once I get there." dagdag ko pa.

I looked for the restroom here because I really need to vomit. This is me when something horrible happens.

I let my self vomit everything and fix myself. Detective Liah came in and fix her face.

Aksidente kong nabitawan ang ballpen ko kaya yumuko ako upang kunin ito. I was about to get up when I smelled something like a flesh or blood under the sink.

"Is everything okay there? Prosecutor?"  tanong ni Liah.

Sinenyasan ko siyang ibigay sa akin ang gloves na hawak nito. She gave it to me and I did what I have to do.

"Oh my god." gulat na wika nito nang makita ang nakuha ko.

A gloves with blood in it and a scalpel? We both looked at each other.

"We don't perform any surgery or autopsy here right?" tanong ko.

Umiling ito sa akin. She gave me a ziplock and I put the things in it.

"It's not what I think. Isn't it?" tanong niya.

I know that she also have the same idea like me. My instincts were never wrong.

"The culprit is here. There's a spy among us." wika ko.

"I'll do the examination on this, ma'am. I swear to God and my family will die if I betray you." seryosong sabi nito sa akin.

She's not lying. I am not a prosecutor for nothing, I guess.

"No one will know about this. We'll catch that person. Report to me when it's done and go with Nico."

"Yes, ma'am." she put the evidences on her bag and walked like nothing happened.

I send the code to Nico so that he'll know what to do. I looked at myself at the mirror.

First day really sucks. I was in that situation when I recalled something. I tried to connect all the dots that I have.

I have my suspect now. I just need to confirm if that person is really the culprit.

Lumabas ako sa restroom at naglakad patungo sa elevator. Kalmado akong pumasok doon kahit na kasabay ko si Nathan.

My phone suddenly rang and I smiled when Steffi is requesting for video call. She's with the twins.
