26. The Queen and the Knight

Dearest Iris, I wonder if you'd read my plea,
For it's been ages since we conversed, you see.
How are you, my dearest? Do you recall our past?
I hope your memory of us will forever last.

In our young days, we'd venture to the lakeside,
Where the garden bloomed and our spirits would glide.
You'd bring a basket filled with treats so sweet,
While I indulged in cookies and sugary treats.

You'd caution me, fearing sickness in my wake,
But I cherished every moment, for your sake.
On our way home, I'd follow closely, the moon as our light,
Proclaiming, "You're my queen, and I, your knight."

You'd laugh, dismissing knights as a woman's guise,
Yet I smiled, silently treasuring the ties.
Oh, how I long for those cherished scenes,
But they reside in memories, like distant dreams.

Time passed, and a letter found my mistress' home,
Drawing me back to Luminaire's grand dome.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you,
Though the purpose of our presence remained askew.

I wish you well, and my heart leaps with delight,
To catch a glimpse of you, if you grant me the right.
Sincerely,
Nyx
