Jason paces across the room of the empty building we were in. "Idiot." He turns and eyes me but says nothing else. There's men guarding the front and back doors, he's seriously taking precautions this time.
"I thought you loved me Jason..." the words escape my mouth before I even had a chance to think. "What?" He freezes. "I thought you loved me... you don't do this to someone you love." He turns and walks over to me, his hands resting on my thighs. "I did love you, I loved you up until the day you left me." He looks at the floor. "Then I found out you were holed up with someone else, a customer at that. Now.." he grabs my face harshly. "I hate you." His eyes are cold, his voice like steel. He pushes away from me, my head snapping to the side from the force of his fingers.
My mind drifts to Kairo again, I really hoped he was okay. He must be worried sick considering he woke up and I was gone. "Yes. I'm waiting inside." He snaps the phone shut. "Your prince in shining armor is right outside those doors." I look towards the main entrance in anticipation of seeing him. Granted it's only been 12 hours. That's long enough with this sick crazy man. The door opens allowing sunshine to light up the room for just a second. "And I swear if you brought any of your buddies I will kill her." My neck snaps towards Jason who has a devilish look on his face.
The two walk towards each other, they never break eye contact. "You know, you've fattened her up over the last month. She tasted so sweet." Jason taunts Kairo, baiting him for a fight. "She'd never sleep with you willingly bud." Jason snorts in amusement. "Like she would for you." Kai's face covered with a smug grin, he says nothing but there's no need to. Jason's angry eyes are on mine and for a moment I fear for my life. "You FUCKED him?" He shouts at me. I nod with one eye open afraid that if I use both he'll attack me. "You really are a whore."
Kai lunges at Jason knocking him to the ground. They roll around trying to get the other pinned to the floor, a cloud of dirt rises around them. "Stop." I shout at them but it's no use. Jason rolls over on top swinging his fist so quickly it almost looks like it was animated. Kai's head snaps to the left and I scream at Jason to leave him alone. "You sick fuck! Get off of him." I'm on my feet and moving towards them before I know it, using pure adrenaline I kick Jason off of Kairo. "Get out of here love." He stands and grabs Jason by the shirt. I make my way towards the door still keeping my eyes on the two boys. Fists are flying, it smells of copper and it feels like my heart is going to combust.
I attempt to push the door open but of course it's locked. I'm forced to watch as they fight like gladiators. Jason's fist connects with Kairos eye and I hear a pop. I gasp as Kai drops to the ground and Jason begins kicking him. Kairo doesn't fight back anymore, he lays limp as Jason continues to kick him. Another snap resonates in the air, his ribs... "you bastard." I semi squat and bring my hands from behind my back. Walking up behind Jason my mind is blank, all rational thinking out the window.
I throw my hands around his neck from behind and then jump on his back to ensure I wouldn't lose my grip. "What the-" his sentence cut short as I tighten my hold on him. He staggers backwards before regaining his composure. He leans forward and before I know it I'm on the ground in front of him. "Shouldn't have done that Bella." His voice drips with venom. I ignore him and crawl over to Kairo, his breathing shallow. "I'll wait for you."
Jason snatches me by my hair and begins to drag me towards the exit. Kicking and thrashing about I try to escape his grasp. "Stop fighting it." The sound of metal hitting the ground makes me jump, my nerves already bad. Sunlight beams in from where the door was moments ago. "Jason Wilso you are under arrest for kidnapping and assaulting a federal agent." I turn to see Charlie and Damion coming towards me. Shock jolts through me as they help me up. "You guys are federal agents?" Charlie smiles as she leads me outside. The sun feels amazing against my skin, it was cold and damp inside that old building.
"We work for the CIA. So does Kairo." She helps me into a back Cadillac truck before slamming the door shut and jumping in the passenger seat. Damion comes out with a somber look on his face, he says nothing as he starts the car and begins the drive too... well I don't exactly know where. "Where are you taking me?" The pair share a look with eachother before Charlie turns to face me. "You're being placed in witness protection." I don't know how to feel after she tells me that. I'm leaving New York for good, I know that much.
The drive is long and quiet, everyone in their own heads trying to process what's happened. My thoughts keep going back to Kai, is he okay? He looked so horrible, his eye busted, and he had blood all over his face. I couldn't tell where he was hurt. "Damion." He hums in response. "Will I get to see Kairo again?" He says nothing for a while, I begin to think he isn't gonna answer me until he does. "No. One of the rules of witness protection is that the witness may no longer make contact with former associates. Plus he's an agent so I highly doubt our boss is gonna let it fly." His words make me sad. If I had hope before there's none now.
We arrive at a giant building, it had little to no windows. From the outside it looked like an everyday office building but when we got inside I was clearly wrong. There's people everywhere, all of them wearing black uniforms. Charlie places her hand on the small of my back and leads me into a glass elevator. "We're taking you to see our boss. He would like to speak to you." The elevator is silent, there's no music like there usually is. I watch the floor numbers go up for what seems like forever before we stop at the 95th floor. "Damn." I whisper as the door slides open exposing giant glass windows that showcase a grand view. You could see the entire state of new York from up here. "It's amazing isn't it?" A gruff voice says from behind me. I turn and come face to face with a older man, he had to be in his mid fifties.
"It is sir." He smiles and extends his arm, I walk inside his office appreciating the dark hardwood floors he had. They remind me of Kairo's office doors. "Isabella darling please take a seat." His Australian accent loud and strong. I sit in the brown leather chair a small sigh coming from me as I sink into it. "Mhmm this is nice." The man stares at me for a while before speaking again. My eyes roam freely around his office, he has large filing cabinets across the back wall no doubt full of people they've dealt with over the years. "Do you understand what is about to happen here?" I honestly have no idea what was about to happen. "No sir." He nods very slowly before offering me a drink. "This is how it's gonna happen.."
we've reached the end of part one. Please stay tuned as I am working on part two right now! This is going to be very exciting. Make sure you vote.
