(Kairos pov)
Monday, October 3rd, 4:23am

My team and I are silent on the drive over to Jason's so called, Duplex. My mind rolling with every possible scenario but being absolutely prepared for whatever happens. "All right guys listen, anything can happen today." I look at everyone's face, full of determination and hope.

"We have to be prepared for anything, including the loss of a team member. I'm not saying that's what gonna happen but we have to stay alert." They nod and begin to shake the nervousness away. Getting prepared to fan out across the building, Jason had a very large team with him and they all had training thanks to Kenneth. Thinking about it just upsets me because regardless of what happens to Jason I have to kill Kenneth. That's the one thing I left out when I told Bella about this mission.

Her beautiful almond shaped face pops into my head and it brings butterflies to my stomach. You're doing this for her. My brain reminds me to stay focused and I shake my head, locking my eyesight on my pistol that's strapped to my hip. "Mr. Green." I look up and lock eyes with Victoria. "Yes?" She looks around before looking back at me and shakes her head. "Nothing never mind." She looks out the window and I cock my eyebrow at her.

We stop in front of a brick building and they all look at me. "Carter & Wilson around back. Thompson you're with me." We bump fists before the pair slips away leaving me and my deputy in wait. Five minutes intervals between exits so no one suspects anything. "Come on." I slip out the back door and make my way to the front door, I slip inside and head towards the kitchen. We have to scope out the first floor before moving on. Carter's voice cuts through my earpiece telling me they've cleared the back of the building.

I find Lanei and she shakes her head making it clear that he's not here. Onto the next floor. I take the stairs two at a time ready for this entire thing to be over with. I'm in the middle of checking one of the offices when I hear a loud crash. Running out into the hallway I find Lanei rising from a pile of glass. "What the hell?" A large man exits the room and locks eyes with me. He grins viciously before charging at me, i side step to the right just before he can grab me and he goes sprawling onto the floor.
"The bigger they are the harder they fall." I tease the large man before whacking him on the back on his head with the but of my gun, his head hits the ground and he's out cold.

"Carter where are you?" I speak into my earpiece and get no response. "Come on Lanei." Running down the hallways I have to talk some sense into myself before entering a room with Jason. He thinks he has one up on because if last time but little does he know I was protecting Bella. This time he isn't slipping through my fingers. I notice a door at the end of the hallway is slightly ajar so I hold my finger up to my lips signaling to Lanei that we have to be cautious of what's behind that door.
I push it open with two fingers and slowly make my way inside. Lanei is hot on my feet making sure to keep the back under surveillance. Her breathing loud as we walk through the giant room, hoping that nothing goes wrong.

"It's about time you joined us Kairo." I turn and see Jason coming out of one of the room with a black eyed Victoria and a passed out Carter. "Jason." He tosses Carter's body onto the couch that was in the corner and Lanei steps forward but I stop her. She looks stressed as we make eye contact but she nods her head. "Vic you okay?" I call over to her and she throws her head back. "Yea I'm good." She turns her head to the right and spits, it lands on Jason's shoe and she smirks, clearly satisfied that she hit her target.

"Let her go Jason! This is between you and me." He cackles wildly before shoving Victoria away from him. "Finally you go out like a man." Lanei rushes over to Carter and helps him to his feet. The two disappear out the door and I look over at Victoria who's eyes are bouncing back and forth between me and her father. "Get out of here kid." She frowns as she looks over at me. "Not happening."

I groan but say nothing else. "Enough chit chat. She's staying so she can watch me kill you since she didn't have the guts to do so." I cut my eyes to her but she looks at the ground in shame. Thousands of situations run through my head but I can't focus on those, Jason charges at me and slams his body into my own knocking me to the ground. He falls on top of me but I quickly push him off and stand up, he snarls as he rises. He throws his jacket to the floor and begins to circle me.

"We can end this right now." I say to him and throw a punch that lands square in his mouth. His head snaps back and I quickly drop low knocking his feet from underneath him. He hits the ground with a loud thud and I walk over to him. "Make it easy. I don't wanna have to kill you, I made a promise to my lady." His eyes blaze with anger at the mention of Bella, before I know it his hand grabs the front of my shirt and yanks me down to the floor. His fist connects with my rib cage a few times making me lose my breath.

He goes to stand up but freezes as the sound of a gun clicking. My eyes look behind him and I see Victoria standing behind him with her pistol pointed at his head. "Sit down." He does as she says and then she points her gun at me. "Vic what's going on?" I look up at her but her face is hard as steel. "You thought that all of this!" She gestures at the situation with her free hand before continuing. "Was gonna be okay? That I was just gonna kill my father because you told me too?" Jason snorts but makes no move to say anything else. "And you!" She wields her pistol on him once more.

"Where the hell have you been? 18 years with no father, no one to turn to when my heart was broken for the first time. No one was there to wipe the blood off my cuts when I fell or to buy me new school supplies." Tears are falling from her eyes now but her face remains expressionless. "What about your mother? She always wanted a child.." he says slowly as if he couldn't understand why she was so upset. "Oh you mean your ex wife that couldn't care less about having a daughter because she wanted a son." She spits out. Her eyes blaze under the early morning sunlight.
Jason's face fills with confusion as he looks at his daughter. Someone I would be proud of it she belonged to me, she's come so far. "I'm sorry Victoria. I never knew any of that. Your mom always talked to me about having kids and building a family. I never thought she wouldn't love the one she had." Victoria scoffs and Jason moves to stand up. She shoots the gun near his foot and he freezes.

"Here's how this is gonna go." She loads the gun again, the small click sounding 100x's louder since no one was saying anything. I can't believe this is happening right now...

We are almost finished with the story! If you've made it this far I want to thank you so much! I really like the direction this went in and how well everything came together. Make sure you vote!
