AN: Welcome back everyone.
I want to clarify that this book will be divided into three 'acts' or phases through out the book. I'll start with chapters of act one, then post two and three as written. Anyways, you guys loved the first book, so here's a second. Enjoy!Me and Gwen were at home after prom. "Tonight was great." Gwen said. "Yeah, it was." I replied. Gwen sat down on the couch with a groan from tiredness. I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and sat down next to her. "These shoes deserve to die. Painfull, to say the least." Gwen explained, picking her high heels up again.
We had both changed into more comfy clothes. "Well, the next time you should have to wear heels, is our wedding." I replied. "Really? Mrs. L/N?" Gwen joked, leaning in towards me. Our lips connected and we started kissing, Gwen pushed me back into the couch and I fell, laying down.
I woke up for school the next Monday. I'm glad the cops aren't after me, besides, other people have public identities. Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, I'll be fine. I finished my thoughts and went to school.
I met up with Gwen at school and pushed my way through the crowd of people staring, taking pictures and whispering of me. The first few periods were fine. I was walking to the bathroom during lunch. "Help!" I heard someone yell. I turned the corner and saw Luke in the hands of the Lizard. "Y/N, help me!" He yelled. "I got you, Luke." I said. The Lizard turned to me and threw Luke my way.
I helped my friend up. "Go, pull the fire alarm. Send Gwen my way if you see her." I said. Luke was out of it. I slapped his face, knowing the Lizard was approaching. Luke pulled a blue vial from his bag and gave it to me. "I made this to stop him." Luke said, handing me it. "Thank you." I said as I felt the slimy hand grab me and throw me into the lockers. "Go, Luke!" I yelled. I stood up and faced Lizard. "Y/N L/N. I know your name now, you're not safe from me." Lizard said.
I sighed as I stood up. "Everybody knows my name, I'm not safe from any villain. How'd you get out of police custody, Connors?" I asked. "When they were focused on you fighting Wilson Fisk." Connors said, he swatted me away and I went through the wall. I took this opportunity to change into my suit. We were in a chem lab. A beaker came flying my way and I caught it and threw it back at Connors.
I anchored my webs on the wall behind him and slingshotted myself to drop kick Connors. He fell back into the next room which was the library. We were fighting and the old librarian was chilling, sorting books and listening to music through headphones. Lizard threw a table at him and I webbed it back to throw it at Lizard.
We moved back into the hallway. I was dodging Lizard's tail as we fought hand to hand. My spider sense gave me a different feeling than helping me fight. I heard Gwen running my way in her suit. She launched herself and kicked the Lizard, too.
Me and Gwen regrouped as the lizard got up. "Who's this guy?" She asked. "Your old boss, Connors." I answered. "He's the Lizard?" Gwen asked. "Yes, I am." He answered.
I webbed Lizard's hand to a locker and he pulled it away, a sharp piece of metal sticking to his head. "Good idea." Gwen said, dodging as the lizard swung the metal. The metal fell off as he swung and shot into the wall right by Gwen's head. She cut Lizard's tail as he swung it at us. We were on the footbridge, now. Lizard's tail had been severed and was now on top of me and Gwen. "Ah, gross." Gwen cringed and kicked aside the tail.
I pushed off my hands to stand up and prepared myself into the signature spiderman stance. Lizard charged us and me and Gwen worked together to fight the Lizard. He was sent out the window into the courtyard. I heard gunshots down there. Me and Gwen looked over to see a SWAT team shooting Lizard. The lizard made quick work of them, I noticed I was bleeding.
I heard more shots and saw George shooting a shotgun at Connors. Me and Gwen started to move down to where they were. We had to run a few hundred feet since there was nowhere to anchor webs. I stopped in my tracks. "Dad!" Gwen yelled. The lizard had impaled George with his claws. I ran full sprint at Lizard. Gwen stayed behind, in shock.
I punched Lizard as hard as I could and got him to the point where I could inject him with Luke's serum. Connors fell, back a weak, disabled human and I kneeled near George. "Promise me you'll keep Gwen out of this. People will hunt you, and her in turn. Keep her safe." Gwen kneeled beside me. "I love you, Gwen." George said, Gwen grabbed his hand and I turned back to Connors, letting Gwen have her last moments. I tried to process what George said.
I knocked Connors out. Gwen let out a sob and I looked at her. As I did I saw cops and students surrounding us, watching. I had to leave, otherwise Gwen's identity could be figured out.
Luke barged in. He looked out of it, panicked. "I'm done." He said. "Luke, calm down. Talk to me." I said, he looked at me. "I can't do this anymore, be your partner. You promised me I'd never be in the middle of a fight. I almost died, I'm too young to die. I'm done." Luke ranted. "Why didn't you keep me safe?" Luke asked, gesturing his broken arm at me. "I'm sorry." I said.
Luke got angry. "That doesn't cut it, Y/N. You're dangerous, I finally realised it. Everything you touch dies. Stay away from me." Luke left. "Luke." I called.
Days later Gwen knocked on my door. She was dressed comfortably, wearing a beanie, but she looked like she hadn't been taking care of herself. "Where have you been?" She asked. "Hi..." I said dully, not meeting her eye. "My father died. There was a funeral. They shot off rifles, and they made speeches. Two of my teachers showed up. If I-If I showed up… everyone was there but you." Gwen cried.
I reached my hand up to wipe her tears, Gwen leaned into it. I looked away from her, the guilt finally winning. Gwen stepped back. "Can't do this- can't do this." I stuttered. "I'm sorry. I can't-I can't." "But you said." Gwen replied. "I can't see you anymore." I said clearly. "I can't."
Gwen looked at me with resentment, and the feeling tore at my soul. She walked away, stopping before the turn to the elevator. Gwen looked at me, crying. "He made you promise, didn't he? To stay away from me, make me give Ghost Spider up. So I'd be safe." Gwen realised. I couldn't look at her. Gwen walked away, leaving me as depressed as ever.
