Y/n POV

My phone rang, I picked it up and the number was unknown. "Hello?" I asked. "Y/n." "Fury. What do you want?" I asked. "I know you've made your decision, and as much as I think it's the wrong one, I can respect that. You've done a lot for this city. And I know that. And I wanted to say thank you. And with some new positions opening in the Avengers Initiative, I wanted to say that if you decide you want it, there's a spot for you and Gwen." Fury ranted. "Thank you." I said.

After we exchanged condolences, I hung up.

Luke POV

I was in the control room, monitoring the doctors work. I decided to go see dear old Gwen. I walked into her cell where she sat. She looked away from me as I crouched in front of her. "How you doin', Gwen?" I asked. "Go away." She told me. "Now, now. That's no way to treat an old friend." I said. She still wouldn't look at me, so I grabbed her face and made her see me. "Where is Y/n?" "I don't know, and even if I did, I wouldn't say. I can't wait until he finds you, you're already dead." Gwen spat in my face.

I wiped it away and stood up, leaving the room. "Get her ready." I said to the guards outside her room.

Y/n POV

I went back to Peter's grave. "You were right, Pete. This was my responsibility, and I failed. I'm sorry." I kneeled in front of him. Silence passed. "Right. You're dead. I don't know why I keep coming back here." I stood up, hands in my jacket pockets. "It's because you miss him." I turned around, Aunt May stood there, holding flowers. She walked to me, taking a good look. "You look tired, Y/n."

I sighed. "I am." "And you need to shave." She added. "I know. I've just been busy lately." I said. "Come, let's go get breakfast." May told me.

We sat down in a diner. Across from each other in a booth.

"So tell me, how've you been? Besides the obvious."
"Let's see. I was kicked out of my apartment, and my best friend turned on me and kidnapped my girlfriend."
"That bad?"
"Yeah. I'm trying to find her, but there's no trace."
"Have you showered lately? Had a decent meal, a good night's rest?"
"No."
"Let me buy you breakfast."
"I can't."
"Y/n L/n, you can let me help you."
"Fine. Thank you, Aunt May."
"He told me all about you. How much he loved you and Gwen, but especially you. He said that you made him want to have kids. How proud he was of the man you'd become. And that he knew you'd do great things. He loved you."
"I really needed to hear that."
"I know how hard it is, having this responsibility. But it's yours. You were bitten, and now it's in your hands."

Later that night I was patrolling the city. "Come on, Gwen. Where are you? Where are you?" I mumbled. Someone lunged at me. I dodged, and the Prowler hit the ground. "How many guys is he gonna send after me?" I sighed. "Y/n L/n, you're coming with me." "Where is Gwen?" "Rotting." He lunged at me. I was surprised at how fast he was. His boots left purple streaks in the air as he moved. He swung his claws at me, I caught his wrist, kicking away from him.

I saw a steel pipe on the ground next to me. I picked it up, swinging it at my side like a sword. "Tell me where she is." I yelled, striking him. He blocked my attack. After a few more swings, he slid under me, switching from defense to offense. I blocked over and over. Prowler took a big swing, cutting the pipe into pieces with his claws. I threw it to the side.

The Prowler swung his right at me. I caught it with my left, and when he brought his left down I grabbed his wrist. It was a fight of strengths. I was winning, pushing him back. He activated the boosters on his wrist. He slowly overtook me. I headbutted him and he lost his balance. His wrist jets threw him off the roof.

I swung after him, kicking him as he flew, making sure he had no time to recover. I kicked him over and over. I grabbed him by his throat, dragging him along a brick wall while I ran on it. I threw him into a billboard and he fell to the ground. I kicked him on the face, cracking his helmet. I kneeled down, ripping the pieces off his head. He was African American, bald, and looking right at me, laughing.

"Bravo, Y/n."
"Who are you?"
"My name is Aaron Davis."
"Your brother's a cop."
"Yeah, he is."
"Where is Gwen?"
"Doing what you wouldn't. Donating blood."
"No more lies! Where is she?!"

I slammed him into the ground, grabbing him by his armor. "Where!? Is!? She!?" I yelled, punching him with each syllable. He kept laughing, and I kept punching, until my hand hurt and I knew I had almost killed him. I slammed him against the ground. "Tell me!" "Here, the location is marked. Just don't kill me, I have a nephew. He needs me." Aaron pleaded, handing me a flash drive. I brought my fist back and punched him out.

I stood up. "NYPD, put your hands up!" I put my hands in the air. "Turn around." He told me. I obliged, I realized I had turned invisible. I walked away, leaving him. It was Jefferson Davis. I left the scene, returning to a rooftop. I went to the place I'd set up as a base. I plugged the drive into my laptop. I saw the location, and I left before I knew what my plan was.
